DC Animated Universe Erased? Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Destroys Beloved Universes

DC Animated Universe: Triple Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Three

Justice League: Infinite Earth's Crisis The most recent animated feature in the DC Universe, Part Three has veered drastically and might destroy cherished worlds from the continuity. The episode is a multiverse catastrophe brought about by the Anti-monitor resulting from John Constantine and Flash's attempt to change the past by eradicating baby Darkseid. This act of time travel backfired, destroying innumerable reality and forcing DC heroes in the Tomorrowverse to make ultimate sacrifices to save at least one universe.

DC Crisis: Infinite Earths Event

Various forms of the DC multiverse have repeated the Crisis on Infinite Earths event as a recurring motif. The first 1985 comic book event pulled many worlds into one timeline. Reflecting this, the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths in 2019 included worlds like the Earth-66 of the 1960s Batman show and Smallville's Earth-167. Andy Muschietti's The Flash changed the DCEU's continuity in 2023 adding live-action versions of Tim Burton's Earth-89 and Richard Donner's Earth-789. Now woven in cameos from prominent DC Earths, the Tomorrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths event hints at a terrible future for their residents.

Ruins of the DCAU and Super Friends Universes

The heroes of the Tomorrowverse see some worlds die as they get ready to see most realities in the multiverse destroyed. Mister Terrific notes especially two worlds that vanish: Teen Titans' Earth-2003 and Super Friends' Earth-508. Batman gets a last warning in the Hall of Justice on Earth-508, the 1970s Super Friends. Mister Terrific later tells the heroes that the armament of the Anti-Monitor is approaching, first destroying Earth-2003, where the Titans Tower of the 2003 Teen Titans can be seen falling.

Adding to the damage, Kevin Conroy's last Batman performance in Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3 virtually eradicates the Dc Animated Universe. Series like Justice League Unlimited and The Batman Animated Series made up this universe.

Is permanent destruction of the universe?

Like Justice League Dark: Apokolips War from the DC Animated Movie Universe, the Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths Part Three aims to wipe the slate and provide DC's animated productions a fresh start. Following DC's usual approach, this means simplifying the animated multiverse and calls for some sacrifices. This does not mean, however, that well-known DC shows including Teen Titans, Super Friends, and the 1990s DC Animated Universe have permanently disappeared. Future multiverse events in the DC multiverse might bring these deleted reality back from the brink.

The Future of DC Animation

Although DC's next slate of live-action films could be interesting, the brand is set to premiere several much awaited animated films in 2024. Multiverse crises in movies, TV shows, and live-action films seem to have no bearing on worlds in other media. One can live concurrently among several iterations of the same universe. For instance, The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths and the DCEU's The Flash time-travel scheme highlighted similar but fundamentally different Tim Burton's Batman universe, together with different approaches of Richard Donner's Superman universe's ending.

Although Earth-509, Earth-2003, and Earth-12 seem to have been permanently eradicated in Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths Part Three, there is a chance that these are merely variants of the worlds shown in their respective shows.
