Dark Matter Season 2: A Second Season?
Dark Matter season 1 ended with quite a few loose ends, and fans are already wondering if the series will be back for another season. And honestly, who wouldn't be curious? Apple Tv+ doesn't really give a lot of information about its viewership numbers, so it's hard to say if Dark Matter was a hit or not.
Dark Matter showrunner and head writer Blake Crouch and series finale co-writer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry were pretty cagey about any potential Season 2 plans. But, they did give a little peek into some of the possibilities that could be explored if the show is renewed.
World 26
Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry was the one who came up with a lot of the ideas for World 26. It's the seemingly utopian world where Amanda Lucas and Ryan Holder are seen meeting. Even though it looks perfect, Ben-Zekry insisted that there's no such thing as a perfect world. There's always a downside to everything.
Crouch pointed out that Ryan knows who Amanda is, and that he found her in a really interesting way. He was stuck in this world without any ampules to get him back home. He knew Amanda could be the key to getting back to his own universe.
Is World 26 The Key To The Next Season?
Crouch and Ben-Zekry mentioned that World 26 is a very important part of their plans, and they even teased that there will be a lot more of it in Season 2. This makes sense because World 26 is where Amanda and Ryan are. If there's a second season, it'll definitely explore this world in greater detail.
There's already plenty to explore in a potential season 2. Season 1 covered a lot of ground, but didn't really wrap up everything perfectly. There's still a lot of mystery surrounding Ryan and Amanda's relationship, and how Amanda's encounter with Ryan could change her perspective on the whole Multiverse idea.
Dark Matter's Future
The main story of Jason Dessen getting back together with Daniela and their son Charlie, and starting over in a new universe, is pretty much done. A season 2 could focus on Ryan and Amanda, but there's a big question about how to keep the story fresh without retreading the same territory.
It's hard to gauge how successful Dark Matter was, but a lot of people are hoping to see a second season. Crouch and Ben-Zekry have more ideas for the future, but they'll need Apple TV+ to give them the green light first.
