Henry Selick and Neil Gaiman are working on Coraline Companion Film, almost a sequel.
Currently under development is a buddy film to the well-received stop-motion animated picture Coraline from former director and writer Henry Selick and Neil Gaiman. Previously working on the stop-motion animated picture Coraline, based on Gaiman's fantasy novel of the same name, Selick and Gaiman first teamed in 2009. Coraline won Selick an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature and lots of great reviews. Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, John Hodgman, Jennifer Saunders, Ian McShane, Dawn French, and Keith David among others made a noteworthy voice cast for the movie.
Variety sources say Gaiman and Selick will collaborate once more on a Coraline companion film. Based on Gaiman's book The Ocean At The End Of The Lane, this film will Selick has commended the concept of the original novel and called the film "almost a sequel" to Coraline. The filmmaker has said that the studio behind Guillermo del Toro's magnificent Pinocchio, ShadowMachine, is showing interest in the concept. See Selick's whole quotation on The Ocean At the End of the Lane below:
The Ocean at the End of the Lane: Great Next Project for Gaiman & Selick
Published in 2013, Gaiman's coming-of- age tale The Ocean At The End Of The Lane is A significant memory the unidentified guy eventually starts to recall from thirty years past is Lettie Hempstock, a small child who used to be his neighbor growing up and with whom the man traveled on expeditions hunting for spirits and more.
Like Coraline, The Ocean at the End of the Lane looks with childhood and the issues that develop during puberty and coming-of- age. Alternating between the appeal and terrors of the Other Mother and Other Father, the Coraline film effectively turned the Dark Fantasy horror tale into a children's movie that was equally colorful and horrific. Given the present quality of the novel, the Ocean at the End of the Lane could reach comparable subversive territory if properly adapted.

Coraline's world from the movie
Based on Neil Gaiman's novella, the 2009 stop-motion animated film Coraline follows Coraline Jones, a lonely young girl who finds a gateway to a more malevolent other universe behind one of the numerous doors of her new house following relocating to a new house with her negligent parents. Star Dakota Fanning as Coraline, the film, written and directed by Henry Selick employs Stop-motion Animation.
The horror story has a particular place since the film is set in a house. The suspenseful events of the film present a special fusion of horror and drama. Those who enjoy the genre will definitely find great attraction in this intriguing film.
The Ocean Right At Lane's End
Instead of a child traveling to this other planet with a hideous mother, it is a monster that comes to ruin a youngster's life here.
The unveiling of the project shows Selick already has a 35-page treatment—with concept art included—for his Ocean at the End of the Lane adaptation, which will hopefully find further traction and significant studio support shortly. The perfect director to enter the realm of The Ocean at the End of the Lane and approach it creatively and faithfully is Selick. Selick is not shy to challenge literary titans since he has worked on Coraline, James, and the Giant Peach before.
