Chicago P.D., along with the rest of One Chicago franchise, was recently affected by scheduling changes because of President Joe Biden's farewell speech. This sudden change impacted the planned release of new episodes and caused them to air repeats instead and pushing all new content by one week. This last-minute change created an alteration in the order of episodes to viewers frustration who had been looking forward to that weeks release.
The newest episodes from the shows will now air on Wednesday January 22 with previous content airing as repeats for January 15, These decisions was done in an effort to stay consistent with the storyline to viewers of all shows in the One Chicago Franchise so there is continuity for all. These shifts may require those looking to watch, plan accordingly.
The most anticipated three show crossover event with all the shows Chicago Fire, Chicago Med , and Chicago PD is still on the books and currently will still air on January 29. A major focus has gone to that event as the date nears.
This year’s three part crossover storyline includes a large scale emergency due to a gas explosion that impacts each area with heroes of the series that the audiences know and have come to love. The new schedule will now change the viewing lineup with Chicago Fire airing before Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. finishing off the action-packed series. While fans patiently waited for the return of all shows Chicago P.D.'s previous winter premiere gave viewers a focus on Officer Cook's backstory and her strong talents with hints that will show challenges with her life ahead. "Peacock," a streaming service from NBC provides a method of accessing older content of not only Chicago P.D. but both the other One Chicago franchises. The NBC app allows viewers a method for getting all available new material as soon as they have premiered.
