Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, a Fox reality show has returned for it’s third season pitting celebrities against difficult challenges inspired by Special Forces military training. The new cast is made of various celebrities from a wide variety of professions.
The new season involves former members of the U.S. Special Forces leading various celebrities through multiple exercises to showcase their physical and mental capabilities. These exercises range from challenging underwater drills to rappelling from various heights. All participants are asked to complete these tasks with all the rigor that real Special Forces recruits experience to create authenticity.
Competitors will push their limits while participating in physically and mentally challenging trials. They endure an intense training camp over 10 days where they either must quit or are forced to leave as a part of the show’s high expectations. These conditions make their experience a challenge as the stakes are very real.
The cast includes many individuals that will go to extremes of their endurance. There are various members from a variety of backrounds including former Disney stars to social media influencers to professional athletes, and other famous celebrities.
Stephen Baldwin and Denise Richards made the decision to quit due to concerns about injuries or previous injuries which highlight the extreme physical requirements. While former Bachelorette AlI Fedotowsky was asked to leave due to a hand injury, further displaying how quickly the show may put your place in jeopardy for any physical issues that can hinder progress.
Participants in this season included Christy Carlson Romano, Kyla Pratt, Nathan Adrian, Alana Blanchard, Kayla Nicole, Landon Donovan, Carey Hart, Brody Jenner, Marion Jones-Thompson, Cam Newton, Trista Sutter, Golden Tate, Jordyn Wieber. They face many situations to prove themselves along with challenging internal and external perspectives.
The show showcases extreme activities for all of the cast members. Through the different challenges there is opportunity to showcase personal strengths and vulnerabilities. Competitors are all seeking ways to prove their physical or mental capabilities .
There were numerous high intensity moments from rappelling to underwater activities that were used as trials. As each cast member completes an intense situation there is opportunity to have a closer look at who they truly are and the strengths they obtain as human beings. The challenges created more insight to their core and values beyond the personas created in the public eye.
Former Disney stars Kyla Pratt and Christy Carlson Romano mentioned how their upbringing within entertainment gave a set of strengths for the challenges faced. From reading the room in a critical situation to always pushing to never let anyone down these actresses have unique qualities as people.
The ladies also focused on their ability to build relationships and depend on team work and the connections they formed during this time. They had all decided that they fully committed and that they would not falter when faced with their difficulties on screen while hoping it inspire viewers. Also each was working for others on the cast by building them up for ultimate success.
The cast was not just limited to those in acting as professional athletes and people of strong physicality were also showcased in this season of challenges. Their skills created another layer to the diverse perspective and a higher intensity.
Carey Hart mentioned his wife's support, stating his journey of "recklessness" has always been supported by his partner even after physical limitations were forced on his current role as a motocross professional. He was given encouragement in order to push his limits to the extreme.
Stephen Baldwin noted his faith helped him in those times of difficulties. He said he fully trusts and relies on those beliefs to push him beyond normal capacity. His use of faith allowed him a connection through his inner journey as a foundation to deal with whatever challenge the show brought about.
Many celebrities joined to challenge how they perceive themselves while connecting with real life obstacles. This became the new goal which focused more on a path to self-growth over competitive practices. There were also challenges where they had to be honest with their feelings. In these cases having faith was brought into the forefront allowing personal values and spirituality to drive action in real life.
The show’s intention is designed to see how individual growth could lead to more strength and perseverance within difficult situations, and was never designed to have individuals compete against each other but for all to make it to the end together. In the face of adversity their approach is now one of working as a team. Each has expressed how this experience will impact how they go forth from here onward in their personal lives.
