Epilogue of Star Trek: Discovery makes Burnham's Son One Of The Youngest Captains, Like Kirk
Leto Burnham-Booker is among the youngest Starfleet Captains in the manner of Captain James T. Kirk based on the coda flashing forward 30 years of Star Trek: Discovery. Leto wasn't born yet, nor was Michael Burnham even pregnant when Michael and Book romantically reunited on the beach at the wedding of Admiral Saru (Doug Jones) and President T'Rina (Tara Rosling). Leto is a relatively youthful starship Captain who attained that promotion before his mother; the oldest Leto could be in his early 30s when he arrives to escort Admiral Burnham to the USS Discovery on its final voyage in the 33rd century.
Given James T. Kirk's comparatively youthful age, Michael's achievement of Admiral would not be shocking. She became Captain of the USS Discovery at 34 years old, Commander Michael Burnham. (Or 964 with the time jump of 930 years in the future for Star Trek: Discovery). Born in 2226, Michael Burnham was 30 when she was First Officer of the USS Shenzhou and later imprisoned as Starfleet's first mutineer for her part in starting the Klingon War. Reinstated as a Starfleet Commander, Michael was 32 when she time travelled to the 32nd century as the Red Angel, Burnham was 33 when the USS Discovery joined her in 3190. Burnham's age at which Starfleet elevated her to flag officer is unclear, but it wouldn't be shocking if Michael became Admiral at a somewhat young age—as James T. Kirk did.
One Detail From the Finale of Star Trek: Discovery Makes Burnham's Son Like Kirk
One element from the ending of Star Trek: Discovery makes Captain Leto Burnham-Booker (Sawandi Wilson), the son of Admiral Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), resemble Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner). Written by Kyle Jarrow and Michelle Paradise and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, Star Trek: Discovery's emotional conclusion twisted the narrative to the 33rd century, depicting how Michael Burnham and Cleveland Booker (David Ajala) led a happy existence together. One major surprise is Leto, their fully grown son, who recently joined the Starfleet Captain ranks.
Season five of Star Trek: Discovery strengthened the case for Captain Michael Burnham's indispensible leadership of the 32nd century. Burnham not only was promoted to Captain of the USS Discovery, but she and her time-tossed spacecraft solved the Burn and restored the United Federation of Planets, saved the Federation from the Dark Matter Anomaly, and Burnham discovered the ancient technology of the Progenitors, so shielding the galaxy from it within three years of her arrival in 3189. Leto, Michael's son, is a starship Captain with a difficult act to follow, although it appears he already exceeded his mother in one regard.
Old Kirk's age when he assumed command of the Enterprise
Among the youngest Valhalla Officers to graduate as a starship Captain was James T. Kirk When Kirk took command of the USS Enterprise following Captain Christopher Pike (Jeffrey Hunter/Anson Mount), he was thirty-two. As seen in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2, Kirk's Starfleet career was already explosive; Lieutenant James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) became the youngest First Officer in Starfleet upon he became the Number One of the USS Farragut. Of course, Kirk's five-year assignment guiding the Starship Enterprise was legendary. Soon later, before James reached forty, Kirk was elevated to Admiral and Chief of Starfleet Operations.
The youngest First Officer in Starfleet, James T. Kirk shattered the record set by his father, Lt. George Kirk. But William Shatner's Captain Kirk was significantly slower than his counterpart in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek (2009). From Valhalla Academy Cadet to Captain of the Enterprise, Chris Pine's Captain Kirk climbed the ranks in the course of Star Trek (2009). Pine's Kirk, who became Captain in 2258, 7 years before Shatner's Kirk joined 2265 in Star Trek's Prime Timeline, was just 25. While Admiral Burnham's son Leto in Star Trek: Discovery may have ascended to Captain faster than William Shatner's Captain Kirk did, making Captain at 25 still seems to be something only Chris Pine's James T. Kirk managed.
Discovering Star Trek: Ending Series & Progenitors Treasure Hunt
With season 5's conclusion tying up the Progenitors treasure quest and an epilogue finishing the entire run of Star Trek: Discovery.
The program boasts an excellent ensemble and a compelling plot. Although the future of the show is yet unknown, its ending is most likely to be among the most thrilling aspects.
Jonathan Frakes Describes Variations Of Different Eras Of Star Trek As Director
Jonathan Frakes then went on to explain how the present episodes let directors latitude with dialogue that the Star Trek series created by Rick Berman did not let, thus directing for Star Trek on Paramount+ series is much different. Star Trek requires the actors be word-perfect and recite all speech as written, but the current programs are looser and let for experimentation. See Frakes' comment on his experience supervising the crossover between Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks below.
That's a great observation. That happened on "Those Old Scientists" with Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome visiting. Second City improv specialist Tawny fooled about a bit with the lines. On the scene with Kat Lyn and Bill Wolkoff as my writers, we all sort of locked eyes and I just murmured to them, asking, "What do you think? Should we let them go straight forward? Then they said, "Sure." And that released Anson, and Rebecca, and all of a sudden we performed the scenes as written, but then we played with the scenes, and that was such a delight to have. Given Next Gen's severe policies, as I'm sure you have heard. On our show, it was absolutely rigorous. It was rigorous on every show covering the conversation. It was therefore a quite liberating experience.
