Why Future of All Americans Could Be Bright
Given that the show is a top ratings performer, All American's Renewal prospects appeared to be somewhat positive. It ranks as the #1 program in the sought-after 18-49 demographic even although its linear audience statistics are declining when compared to All American season 5. More importantly still, All American gains from Netflix's streaming of it. The last remnant of an agreement Netflix negotiated with production company Warners Bros. TV—which creates the sports drama—means the studio is driven to keep the show running.
Walker, produced by CBS Studios, does not fit under the same Netflix agreement and streams on Max. This also relates to the symbolic relevance of All American since the show follows The CW's former strategy, which supported young adult dramas and let the network establish a brand. Warner Bros. and Paramount controlled The CW jointly prior to the Nexstar purchase. They would create shows somewhat cheaply, then license those shows to Netflix, where they would typically draw streaming views in a beneficial arrangement for all sides. WB and Paramount have their own streaming services and the previous method of creating original CW series was progressively phased out, even if they still maintain a stake in the new iteration.
All American Season 7 confirmed amid CW slashing scripted shows
After months of rumors and network changes, all American Season 7 has at last been revived at The CW; but, the news comes with a twist. With Nkechi Okoro Carroll as showrunner and Daniel Ezra and the rest of the cast just commemorating All American's milestone 100th episode, April Blair's Sports Drama However, especially since media giant Nexstar bought The CW in late 2022 and overhauled the network in search of profitability and a wider audience, the long-term future of the sports epic has remained something of a mystery.
At least for now, some of those worries have been addressed because The CW has renewed All American Season 7. Thirteen episodes, premiering in 2025, will comprise it. All American: Homecoming still awaits a Renewal decision. Walker's termination leaves the two last shows from CW's pre-Nexstar era as the All American franchise.
Past and Present of The CW
Industry analysts and even CW's top leaders, including network president Brad Schwartz, agree that the previous iteration of The CW is out of current. Under Nexstar, though, it makes sense that All American may endure for another season or two so long as ratings stay at a certain level and expenses remain quite modest. For those who have kept supporting the show despite in an environment undergoing change, this is encouraging news.
