Agatha All Along: episode 7's Shocking Reveal – Rio Vidal's True Identity!
Hold onto your broomsticks, Marvel fans! Agatha All Along episode 7 delivered a game-changing reveal, confirming Rio Vidal's (Aubrey Plaza) true identity. This twist, the pinnacle of a cleverly crafted mystery woven through the episode and series so far, brings about the grand finale to Agatha All Along and promises a new level of supernatural conflict for this Marvel TV series and others yet to come.
This episode was insanely well-written, weaving between Lilia Calderu's (Patti LuPone) fragmented memories via non-linear storytelling methods that demonstrate that Lilia is constantly traveling across her own lifetime, showing those key moments of understanding which leads to some very impressive and surprising developments. That trial is essential to understanding her past, her current situation, her ambitions, her destiny– and also brings us the most anticipated reveal of all!
Lilia's journey involved making peace with her own inevitable death. But things go deeper: she is meeting her ultimate demise in the most powerful and surprising ways imaginable, the meeting that defines her fate: She literally is embracing Death, revealed as Rio Vidal! A truly insane moment that was brilliantly implied and alluded to all the way through earlier episodes – creating layers of meaning for a viewer now in full knowledge of how exactly these things connect.
There are several clues spread through the show: Rio's inability to kill Agatha, her desire to collect the coven’s bodies post-mortem (these were shown throughout several of those darker and intensely spooky episodes!), that hilarious laughter after Agatha's Ouija board encounter–demonstrating those surprising elements used for foreshadowing; not only that, several more moments showcase those early and surprising moments of foresight throughout several previous episodes before this conclusion: That story involving harming a loved one by sending Nicholas Scratch to Agatha's death; that failed attempt to take Teen after he was hurt. Those instances and hints completely demonstrate the forethought behind the writing. All of it brilliantly led up to the huge “All roads lead to me” confirmation in episode 7; confirming that major, widely circulated theory amongst fans, highlighting that those theories might already be out there!
Rio as Lady Death? This changes things in enormous ways, adding that crazy powerful character into the MCU’s already impressive roster! In Marvel Comics, Death is an extremely important character, co-existing with Eternity as the key forces which control all of existence– all beings of incredible might which only some select comic book fans know and have followed for ages. Death is certainly not shown as purely malicious.
This wasn’t random; there were early teases about the possible inclusion of Lady Death, leading to this episode revealing something more: the incredibly powerful potential this storyline created; it wasn't just some additional villain added into an already existing plot line but really established another level for upcoming shows, that includes possible storylines; that epic conflict between Lady Death and Deadpool is hugely tantalizing; it adds another intense rivalry that every Marvel fan would surely love!
It’s quite clear Death is going to be this story’s true antagonist, the villain, which may impact this ending. The Salem Seven are all dead in episode 7; so this leaves that story arc open, resulting in Death potentially seeking to bring not only Agatha down but possibly also those other allies such as Billy and Jen. That sets up the true climax and sets those later episodes and that conclusion’s importance at that ending point.
Episode 7 might seem like Lilia’s end, but her sacrifice was essential. Everything before this moment, every previous experience and all those important visions showed just how essential these memories are for providing this particular resolution which impacts those remaining main characters. This intense arc showcases those non-linear aspects: those jumps throughout her time completely explained for the viewers; ending her years-long puzzle which creates immense depth, further emphasized at the final scene of young Lilia; a moment which could either simply end her present-day storyline in the now, or that end scene could simply hint at some possibility of reincarnation!
Episode 7 blew the lid off, especially bringing us Lady Death’s reveal! The entire series was full of exciting moments and surprising reveals and it does end the Salem Seven arc, building anticipation for this upcoming two-parter on October 30th! Those key questions will get answered! It'll feature the showdown with Death, but that finale might reveal her motivations! That revelation might completely change things.
