What does Aemond Ruling mean for Dragon House?
Aemond Targaryen was selected to rule the Seven Kingdoms as Regent in the most recent House of the Dragon episode instead of the wounded Aegon II. For Aemond and Alicent Hightower as well as for the continuing conflict between the Greens and Blacks, this choice has significant ramifications.
Following the Battle of Rook's Rest, the Greens—who back Aegon Ii's claim to the throne—were in crisis. Originally Aegon's regent, Alicent's love of Rhaenyra Targaryen made many view her as frail. But thanks to his dragon, Vhagar, and recent battle triumph, Aemond was considered as a symbol of power.
Aemond is the better option to rule, even Criston Cole, who is in a romantic relationship with Alicent, thinks. Cole, who supports the Greens, thinks Aemond is a strong leader and able of leading the war.
Is Aemond Currently King?
Though he is now the Prince Regent, Aemond is not king. Aemond would then ascend to king should Aegon Ii die. Aegon II is still alive as it stands, but his injuries have made Aemond the official ruling power for the foreseeable future.
As regent, Aemond will keep fighting the Blacks. His main attention will be on the Riverlands where Daemon Targaryen is assembling his army. Aemond's relationship with Criston Cole will probably sour, though, as they debate the best course of action for the war.
Alicent's Opinion of Aemond's Rule
Alicent Hightower has shown a great contempt for Aemond, calling him reckless and uncontrollably wild. After Lucerys Targaryen, Rhaenyra's son, passed away in the Battle of Rook's Rest, she feels betrayed by him and holds him responsible for the death of their ally. She is also progressively disappointed with the war she helped start.
After speaking with Rhaenyra, Alicent is starting to second her choice to back her son's royal claim. She might even give side switching some thought, indicating a possible change in her allegiance.
Aemond's ascent to power marks a dramatic change in House Of The Dragon. The way Aemond rules the Seven Kingdoms and Alicent responds to his authority will be fascinating.
