A Court of Thorns and Roses Book 6: Confirmed! (And Maybe More!)

Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) is seriously beloved by fans of romantasy! But after A Court of Silver Flames (2021), people were wondering: would that be it? Would we ever get another book? The answer is a massive YES! In an interview with TODAY.com, Maas confirmed that A Court of Thorns and Roses 6 is totally happening! It’s one of four books Bloomsbury announced after signing a massive deal with Maas in 2023. And yes – there is talk of an even more books to be written later on in the series!

While Maas mentioned that she writes and releases books kind of "whenever the heck she wants", making those release timelines far more mysterious for audience members – ACOTAR 6 is first up after House of Flame & Shadow (January 2024). She will follow up later by focusing on other elements: first, her return to writing the main story line, then more Crescent City adventures are likely to follow, which adds another aspect for viewers, adding even more mystery to that entire timeline.

What’s the Plot? Fan Theories and Possibilities

Maas is keeping quiet; giving very little info on that 6th novel or others which might come even later on. Yet, even the hints available is significant. She mentioned to TODAY.com that she knows the exact direction it will go. There is even discussion concerning another book; and Maas said those vague notions concerning even more books – a hint suggesting another sequel, at least.

Based on A Court of Silver Flames, many fans think the 6th ACOTAR book will focus on Elain and Azriel, or even Lucien; these were commonly-predicted fan-based plots; using the many hints previously mentioned in earlier works! The extremely complicated relationships between these people; Elain and Lucien's mating bond plus Azriel's undying crush is seriously intriguing; especially that uncertainty whether these could ever overcome what has already transpired before this anticipated sequel. Perhaps there could even be changes – and another big romantic interest might be something to consider too!

There’s a totally mysterious plotline that could show up in ACOTAR 6; this relates to Mor’s encounter with something weird near her estate! It adds intrigue, yet remains incomplete and the next book would completely clarify what could be seen as an additional hook and creative choice on Maas's part. No official release date! Yet, using Maas's typical book-a-year pace (though there have been some notable exceptions), it could possibly release as early as 2025; which could be too soon for this particular production but possible; it all depends upon internal scheduling issues and when these would get released. Or possibly even later, maybe 2026 – meaning that much longer period of anticipation before this final sequel is announced for general release!

Other projects remain and would necessarily add those constraints as these remain potential additional factors involved! After ACOTAR 6? More Maas projects, a super-secret new one which is unknown at present (that Maas mentioned that she is very excited for!). And definitely some more Crescent City!

We can’t really predict how much ACOTAR continues beyond book six! Two additional sequels seem likely at this time; we get very small hints concerning these yet nothing concrete! These are speculative theories however – however there is at least book 6 to anticipate. And any larger crossover from this storyline; between this series, with other ongoing series and projects remain possible for a variety of future books; this could totally happen and expand that entire series to create something larger that no one truly could anticipate at present!

Remember that ACOTAR TV adaptation for Hulu?
