The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3: A Thrilling, Tightly Wound Legal Drama!
Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer has become a major hit! Each season delivers those compelling cases that Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and his team tackle, offering viewers those kinds of wild rides that this genre thrives on, but with a really cool character and engaging supporting roles.
Season 3 starts where season 2 left off, showcasing Gloria Dayton's murder and setting things up in that interesting manner; the accused killer, Julian La Cosse (Devon Graye) pleads innocent; bringing that legendary lawyer into his next big case.
Season 3’s main brilliance involves its completely focused narrative. There are fewer smaller cases; and far fewer those extended side-plots which really characterize this production overall. The amazing depth found within the central mystery and how this would drive the story helped focus Mickey's investigation.
The acting is amazing. Garcia-Rulfo is perfect as Mickey—that stressed lawyer. Becki Newton (Lorna Crane), Yaya DaCosta (Andrea "Andy" Freeman), and newcomer Allyn Moriyon (Eddie Rojas) also really shine! Even those established side characters (Izzy Letts and Cisco Wojciechwoski) have really important developments in season 3, boosting their overall role and significance and providing the additional character depth needed for driving some of that underlying themes.
And the new characters? Devon Graye (Julian La Cosse), John Pirruccello (William Forsythe), and Holt McCallaney (Neil Bishop) bring great character to the table!
That Gloria Dayton murder case is the best thing about season 3. Mickey has to balance those close connections from past seasons; and his personal relationships– making sure everything’s done fairly, fairly considering all elements at hand, without those personal feelings creating an obstruction to fairness and resolution.
Unlike earlier seasons; with many small storylines to enhance some side-characters in that supporting cast; which helped to showcase just how large that support cast really was; some interesting subplots remain, all tied to the overarching theme of the legal system's inherent issues, yet none stray from Mickey's case; these serve more of a balancing point for storytelling! Those key stories explore the limitations and flaws inherent within the legal processes; all tied cleverly into this major storyline–adding an incredible layer that would justify the entire season without sacrificing intensity and pacing.
Mickey himself gets this deeply emotional storyline that is particularly valuable; creating amazing changes to Mickey’s character overall and changing this already cool and capable character and making him grow.
The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 is insanely good; it enhances that familiar Netflix formula by being intensely focused and highly creative, with that amazingly gripping mystery driving the central story which perfectly and efficiently delivers.
The brilliant acting, intense writing and interesting moments involving its multiple characters; showcasing just why season 3 should remain highly regarded as the best iteration in that storyline so far. So, if you’re into gripping legal dramas, jump into this!
