Superman & Lois Season 4 Review: Emotional Finale & High-Stakes Action!

Get ready for the final season of Superman & Lois! This DC series is ending with a bang on The CW, with a 10-episode run starting October 7, 2024. It was supposed to go longer, with 7 seasons planned, but changes at The CW and DC Studios, along with the arrival of David Corenswet's Superman in theaters next year, meant this would be the last hurrah. Fans better make sure they are ready!

Emotional Finale

This series was meant to run longer. Seasons 1-3 built some incredible character development. Lois Lane's cancer battle was a major plot point in season 3, showing how their relationships impacted the show's strength. This was the basis for Superman & Lois season 4, using the heart and emotional bonds of the family to create this incredible show that is going to be an unforgettable conclusion. The final season takes those feelings, that strong familial connection and builds upon it. Fans that fell in love with the family will get another exciting run.

High-Stakes Action

Get ready for some seriously high stakes! I watched the first three episodes, and the tension is through the roof. Michael Cudlitz's Lex Luthor returns as the series' most terrifying villain. He appeared briefly at the end of season 3, but season 4 unleashes the full force of his evil brilliance! His presence alone is chilling, and this is even better than when Cudlitz made his surprise appearance in season 3! Even with budget cuts, the show retains those impressive visuals and action sequences.

Those battle scenes are wild! This series' final year has all kinds of exciting moments, the fights aren’t just spectacle; each punch, each strategy counts as much as any plot development or character's motivation! Every part contributes.

Jonathan and Jordan

I had some initial reservations after they changed Jonathan Kent's role but Michael Bishop fits perfectly in his shoes! Season 3 gave us Jonathan as a dedicated firefighter and this continues, showcasing how well done his performance really is! His brother, Jordan (Alex Garfin), also steps up his game. His superpowers get put to the ultimate test!

Hoechlin and Tulloch

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch remain this show's best aspect, playing Clark Kent and Lois Lane as only these two performers can do!

  • We get plenty of flashbacks showing how they met.
  • Hoechlin brings that iconic heroism, as well as the lighthearted, down-to-earth charm of Clark Kent with equal prowess.
  • Tulloch’s Lois has never been more emotionally potent! Her experiences and the battles she endured last season and getting through her fight with cancer helped her character improve.

The stakes are crazy high, and Lois is front and center. She gets thrown some tough challenges quickly!

Ensemble Issues

The cast of The Franchise look closely at the camera Image

Here's my only issue! Because of budget cuts, they lost seven main cast members. That directly affects this show's character-driven aspects! It made a noticeable impact and showed us just what made this small town and community special and impacted many fans.

I’m hoping to see those characters pop back up in the final episodes to add more heart and connection to this great season.

A Worthy Finale
