Daredevil Season 4: Why "Born Again" Isn't Just a Sequel
Hey Marvelites! Let's chat about the highly anticipated return of Daredevil. Now, there’s a whole lot of buzz surrounding daredevil season 4. However, many seem to misunderstand the nature of the revival.
First, let's set the record straight: the upcoming Disney+ series, "Daredevil: Born Again," is not technically a continuation of the Netflix series – in a literal sense – therefore the moniker daredevil tv series season 4 wouldn’t be entirely correct, though many people call it exactly this; the way Marvel handled things simply meant fans got to see the character appear across other properties (notably in the Spider-Man series)
Many see that inclusion across various media and publications; including even appearances on unrelated storylines or events (specifically some where other superheroes interact or are included within their storyline and other publications). They were obviously hoping for a more direct continuation across different Marvel series; many see "Born Again" as fulfilling that demand. So this expectation has led to some slight confusion between this reimagining (in its overall presentation and its narrative storyline) and a hypothetical fourth season following the Netflix continuity.
This reboot gives the showrunners incredible freedom; allowing both exploration across vastly new kinds of narratives and revisiting various themes. Because now Daredevil doesn't merely operate within a niche Universe. As a reboot of his storyline and because he will share scenes with many other established MCU characters this allows a level of exploration – which was far more limited, otherwise; his past cameos helped give hints of this which really had great impact upon fans expecting some kind of continuation; because of those earlier cameos those same expectations are being somewhat surpassed due to this renewed inclusion.
What Makes "Daredevil: Born Again" Different
Before you jump to conclusions about how these might directly follow upon what Netflix provided before; lets understand just what made this possible.
It’s a soft reboot: meaning that some existing plotpoints might show – yet much of this content (especially the way they appear in new settings or alongside newer and unrelated storylines within the official MCU) won’t merely appear or be handled similarly compared to its past depictions; that previous story is the basis; however these adaptations do not simply continue the existing plots previously set and instead build up on entirely different bases.
For many fans these soft reboots were actually welcomed: Some simply want an opportunity to know what those stories might continue like but others were hoping that this might provide other and new kinds of thematic and character developments. Others, honestly might've preferred a continuation of the established narrative. Most expect different kinds of exploration!
Expect lots of changes! While Charlie Cox is still playing Daredevil – they’ve clearly taken a new approach! Everything can now work alongside the established narratives, expanding on previous interpretations – Yet even without trying to continue directly what has happened so far – There are hints of prior conflicts that show to exist even now – even though everything works differently, those themes and their connections will work within these.
Beyond the Netflix Series: What to Expect in "Born Again"
It’s important to remind yourself what that prior storyline was – so that you’ll be able to separate expectations on a continuation with that expected to happen as a whole reimagining, rather than simply as a continuation or addition.
Expect new antagonists, new allies and perhaps even new approaches! Because not even his prior relationships are presented identically as before; everything has to operate differently: this entire Universe and continuity changed with its prior incorporation across various MCU properties! In itself that is already quite astonishing
- MCU Integration: Expect more crossovers, cameos, and interactions with other MCU heroes. Even previously seen on other media before
- Character Development: The established backstory and characterization will work differently in contrast to Netflix but might change subtly and in interesting ways.
- Fresh Storylines: Prepare yourself for some new mysteries and villainous schemes. Though this obviously won't appear out of nowhere! Instead these make use of some aspects within the character development (from prior media including even outside those).
While some fans might be disappointed that "Daredevil: Born Again" is not a direct continuation of the Netflix series (which again, its a bit of a misleading statement to many that perceive its inclusion to have only operated from the Netflix's point of view before that unexpected cameo; which makes people forget other kinds of interactions within various properties and its existence is largely due to this unforeseen inclusion in various and largely unrelated Marvel stories!) it also allows the creators to build an exciting new chapter. This soft reboot actually generates greater potential across various storylines! By avoiding a strict adherence to past timelines (many were confusing!) more interesting storylines will exist, expanding on a hugely appreciated yet rather contained character!
The bottom line is this: Forget the concept of Daredevil season 4 and see "Born Again" for what it actually is! A reimagined version within a vastly changed context.
