In a Screen Rant interview with Fiona Rene (the actress playing Reenie) talked about this major departure. And surprisingly she thought that the unexpected change might bring the cast together even further.

Rene emphasized that Teddi's exit allows characters like Reenie, Velma, and Bobby to create some serious chemistry on screen.

While Teddi and Velma, a really important pair, will miss out, the team can focus on something very special.

It’s all about the family vibe.
There's more emphasis on working together as a true team.

Even without Teddi it looks like this next season of Tracker might make some really cool changes! It turns out Teddi wasn't actually killed off! Her character actually gets separated from Velma. This makes Season 2 about rebuilding the relationships and working through that disappointment.

This whole situation also allows for those on the team to work on something very important - solving a major mystery. In the Season 1 ending. We learn that the protagonist, Colter Shaw (played by Justin Hartley), has big plans and that means solving the details surrounding his father's death.
