McGiver was super effusive, showering writer and creator Ian McCulloch with compliments. He explains why King's review (“All thriller, no filler!”) totally nails Teacup’s style.  He mentioned how that “really well-written” thing totally makes sense: “he knew good writing when he saw it," saying that he had a lot of faith and a deep respect in McCulloch’s work in storytelling and directing.

It's incredibly clever storytelling, folks! Even quieter scenes—seemingly without a lot happening outside—still create tension through internal conflicts and deeply emotional moments that add suspense to everything; generating some high quality dramatic work that uses quiet moments as tension builders that makes even those smaller, more subtle events just as interesting; showing off the show’s remarkable and superb approach towards that aspect.

From episode 2, the supernatural elements become super clear, making it unsurprising King loved it. Trapped people + terrifying events? A classic horror formula and it creates many truly memorable aspects and high quality creative results!   Those mysterious figures like the Gas Mask Man and the woman in the woods really highlight some key components which creates a haunting vibe. That creates many points which those seasoned horror veterans recognize easily; a strong point for this well-crafted show!

McGiver’s emotional reaction highlights exactly what makes King's praise so significant and well-earned! The storytelling’s very intentional— using parts of McCammon's novel but mostly creating an independent story, opening opportunities to continue in that style, even developing towards a potential season 2, making those previous storylines not only viable but completely justified for continued usage.
