The overall quality across multiple seasons however remain excellent; making it extremely surprising when creative choices just totally bombed, especially those really problematic and incredibly awkward plots, particularly those later storylines involving established characters who got new, awkward turns. It ranged from completely bizarre relationship choices to some truly head-scratching plot points.  This article has all the juiciest bits – get ready!

8 Suits Storylines That Should've Been Erased from Our Memories

8. Rachel's Unforgivable Betrayal: Cheating on Mike

Mike and Rachel's relationship had its share of drama—that's typical for any long-running TV couple. Suits, however, pushes the boundary entirely too far in this storyline that almost ended that very, very successful storyline involving these characters; and ended a long storyline entirely with Rachel’s questionable actions.  Their complicated relationship involved multiple reveals which built a specific kind of rapport and created enormous amounts of tension—however, by then they are past all that stuff related to major betrayals. And after Mike finally came clean? Suddenly Rachel cheated–it felt utterly random; adding completely pointless drama; and ultimately the damage doesn’t stick – a bizarre moment demonstrating questionable creative choice.

7. Harvey and Esther: The Awkward Family Drama

Introducing Louis’s sister, Esther, only to have her reduced to being part of that totally problematic and awful plot involving her dating Harvey, completely throws away any creative opportunity from an interesting character which would have impacted multiple storylines! It made them both look like petulant children and ruined her as a character and made them into utterly dysfunctional individuals! That moment, compounded by Harvey's sneaky attempts to keep this a secret from Louis resulting in this huge fallout and the totally awkward fight culminating with a punch— this seriously undermined many elements that had made those key individuals become extremely popular with those audience members.

6. Harvey's Therapist: When a Professional Relationship Goes Very Wrong

Harvey finally gets help from a therapist– he has anxiety; something completely valid. And for a person who usually suppresses their emotions, seeing this happen was welcome, demonstrating those moments which allowed this important character development!  The opportunity was so significant yet unfortunately wasted through an awful choice: Harvey dates his therapist. Even though there’s potential here, showing Harvey's deep feelings towards Donna; yet his total unprofessional behavior, seriously jeopardizing her career completely wastes the development which otherwise showed the depth that would otherwise showcase a much more thoughtful approach, and made a completely unnecessary and inappropriate complication to what might have otherwise been a very interesting and potentially very strong plotline and a welcomed resolution involving an important romantic arc.

5. Blaming Harvey For His Mother's Mistakes: A Questionable Storyline Choice

The entire storyline never really fully resolves–this is what causes immense difficulty in really understanding what they meant, especially from an outside perspective. The constant suggestions throughout the series involving Harvey being at fault; it implies that it might really be entirely his own fault because of choices he made when dealing with issues that might've had already been out of his control entirely; showing how much influence those early decisions; and those problematic relationships could permanently affect his life. It makes no sense at all to paint Harvey as the one who needs apologizing and forgiveness and reconciling when this reconciliation eventually does happen at a later date; it completely undermined his own valid perspective in these instances.

4. Pearson Specter Litt's Financial Troubles: Filler and a Questionable Plot Point

After multiple crises the storyline of Pearson Specter Litt getting through those situations became almost ridiculous – having to rent part of the building feels very forced – almost like padding to add to that total episode count and stretch things entirely too far, even if that had created some unexpectedly positive impacts. The plots involving Louis and the bankers who had moved into that office really failed to improve what otherwise felt like they had already established a perfectly coherent arc already.   It becomes this filler story—totally pointless and fails to add a more sophisticated element which might otherwise improve this specific point that some fans generally find awkward and entirely uninspired and very repetitive compared to other similarly successful storylines which had made use of clever writing.

3. "The Donna": When Technology Went Wrong in a Legal Drama

The Donna? Possibly the most infamous storyline. Creating a program that not only perfectly replicated Donna’s voice and mannerisms, but allows for real-time interactions; was bizarre for a legal drama from 2017. Giving Donna some chance to create something and advance in her career was excellent; however they waste the possibility by giving her this awkward and ridiculously unbelievable side plotline which ends up going completely unresolved at some point! That entirely useless and completely nonsensical storyline has been forever forgotten—this demonstrates the creative bankruptcy during a very long season which was noted from its fanbase; causing the creative team to develop a seriously poor plot and an unbelievable subplot!

2. The Pearson Backdoor Pilot: A Completely Disconnected Story

Backdoor pilots, sometimes those unexpected pilot introductions to another show; never felt so forced.  Suits season 7 had this; showcasing Jessica Pearson’s move to Chicago in what's entirely pointless filler and failed to integrate this subplot appropriately! It felt disjointed from the series, seemingly existing entirely only to act as promotion for that unrelated Pearson spin-off and wasting the opportunity to focus on established characters within Suits’ ending arc.

1. Louis and Tara's Relationship: A Relationship Built on Lies

Louis finally searching for a loving relationship has always been an important aspect of this specific character. He fails many times. And it made sense that Suits tried introducing another female partner—yet the storyline surrounding Tara feels forced; lacking depth; creating only those uneasy feelings that something entirely unbelievable has just happened within the show and entirely disconnects the character arc and those points involved within that specific, romantic arc.  That whole storyline—relying on lies and a woman who's already taken– completely falls flat, a deeply unsettling and problematic storyline which is extremely unrealistic for the show, ultimately leaving audiences thinking that entire segment never happened, never even worth including!

Conclusion: Even Great Shows Have Their Off Days

Suits is and remains beloved despite these moments of serious creative failures.  However, these poorly conceived storylines show how a very good show might occasionally struggle and demonstrate those limitations. Many of these awkward creative choices created very unnecessary drama, wasting potentially strong characters and even storylines. This really shows that just having excellent acting, writing and plots doesn’t completely save any show–it shows there’s always some risk that it just goes very wrong without constant critical re-examination from many viewpoints.
