Get ready, Trekkies! Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Paramount+'s upcoming 12th Star Trek series, just got a major boost at New York Comic Con! Not only did it get an early season 2 renewal, but it also snagged a seriously awesome guest star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)!   This news breaks even before the show's premiere, creating a seriously impressive pre-launch level of hype that greatly demonstrates its existing and promising potential.  This new series, from creator Gaia Violo, stars Holly Hunter, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner, Tig Notaro, Robert Picardo, and Sandro Rosta, focusing on those key cadets.

Alex Kurtzman (co-showrunner and executive producer) made the big announcements at the Star Trek Universe panel! This happened during a special live stream all the way from Toronto; confirming not only the renewal but also confirming another awesome announcement regarding another important addition to the cast which greatly strengthens that ensemble. We're talking about Tatiana Maslany,  the amazing star from She-Hulk: Attorney at Law!  Her role in Starfleet Academy remains a mystery for now. We do however know that she'll appear in recurring guest roles starting from the very first season!
