The entertainment world lost a legend. Actor, John Amos, best known for Good Times and Roots passed away at the age of 84 on August 21st, 2024. Fans across the globe mourned this powerful figure!

His presence on Good Times in particular left such an indelible mark that so many still feel like he's their TV dad! His son K.C. A Journey From Football to Acting

His life as an actor didn't just begin. Amos played football for Colorado State University! The experience of being an athlete was incredible and helped create his impressive talent and helped create a real understanding of just what made John Amos so remarkable as an actor!

  • This all began with a role in The Bill Cosby Show in 1970!
  • You've also got to see some of his talent in those early films, which gave us Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song (1971).
  • And there's the classic "The World's Greatest Athlete".
  • His on-screen performances really caught a lot of attention.
  • In "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in 1970 He even took on the role of a "Weatherman", who graced television for the series for nearly seven seasons until 1977.

But there was even more! The early seasons of "Sanford and Son" ( 1972), a popular show. It gave him the opportunity to gain exposure to even more audiences, which created even more incredible opportunities, allowing "Good Times" to happen. You might even remember his part in "Maude" ( 1972)!
