In fan-made cosplay photos, Queen Maeve, a crucial character in The Boys, triumphantly returns and teams up with Starlight to defeat Homelander. Maeve was put in a dangerous predicament in The Boys season three when she fell from a building that was exploding and almost died from her injuries. Moving on from the Supes, Maeve did not appear in season 4 even though she made it through the events of season 3. Though the return of Soldier Boy in The Boys season 5 is certain, other former characters like Maeve could still make an appearance.
Cosplay artist @claubailarinita shared four pictures that depict Maeve defeating Homelander in The Boys. Cosplayers dressed as Starlight, Homelander, and Maeve may be seen in the pictures. The three cosplayers are shown in the first and last pictures in animated positions that exude happiness and confidence. The pair of photos in the middle represent a possible action scene, with Maeve and Starlight facing Homelander.
In the second picture, Starlight is seen looking at Homelander in contempt as Maeve turns him off. Homelander then turns the two of them off in return. The two Supes are seen keeping Homelander down as the tension increases in the third picture. Homelander is shown with his wrists bound behind his back, his face and neck restrained by Maeve and Starlight.
The "girls get it done" mentality that was established in season 2 is echoed in this The Boys artwork, which presents an engaging alternate story. Although the present plot of the show does not allow for this particular takedown of Homelander—Maeve has not returned before season 5—the idea of the female Supes defeating Homelander is a fascinating one. This situation, which conveys social messages about patriarchy, might significantly destabilize the otherwise male-dominated series.
The fifth season of The Boys is expected to be the most intense Homelander season to date. Homelander was already the main topic of discussion in Season 4, with an entire episode devoted to his violent past and vindictive acts. Homelander has further cemented his dominance and established himself within the U.S. government by the season 4 finale. The other characters will have to work even harder to topple Homelander as his rule and strength expand.
The Boys has a wide cast of players that are ready to bring Homelander down, even in Maeve's absence. Lead characters like Starlight, M.M., and Hughie provide important opposition, and a face-to-face meeting with Billy Butcher is a possibility. Additionally, Butcher has been attempting to convince Ryan, Homelander's son, to support him. Ryan may support Homelander in Season 5 or work against him, which would complicate the already convoluted issue. No matter how these connections develop, season 5 of The Boys promises to be an exciting fight against Homelander.
