Prior to its U.S. release, the Garfield movie's box office achieves an 80% budget recovery.

Following more than a decade, Cyberpunk 2077's journey ends.

CD Projekt Red is bidding Cyberpunk 2077 farewell at last after over ten years. Originally revealed in May 2012, the sci-fi RPG was eventually published in 2020 following a cinematic teaser trailer in January 2013. On the Xbox One and PS4 consoles, the only platforms available at the time, it was not in the state many anticipated, though; many complained about bugs, performance problems, or just plain breaking. Through backward compatibility, the game could be accessed on Xbox Series X/S and PS5; a next-generation update will not arrive until much later.

Many updates since then have corrected the game and provided other features. Many see CD Projekt Red as having fully redeemed Cyberpunk 2077; it now boasts a "Very Positive" rating on Steam and won the 2024 BAFTA award for Evolving Game for the team's commitment to continuous development support. As of April 30, 2024, the company appears to have moved the development teams working on Cyberpunk 2077 to other projects, therefore a new message from the CD Projekt Red X account implies that the studio is ready to move on.

Future Cyberpunk 2077 Most Likely Will Not See Any Significant Changes

Comments under the post instantly pointed out that with some asking whether the present version of Cyberpunk 2077 is now regarded as final, this restructure would probably mean no more updates for the game. "It's possible that there's some other little thing that comes in here or there, just because you're kind of messing around with stuff, sometimes you discover something that is not a high risk," Amatangelo said in a recent interview with Game File, stating while the team is now finally writing off significant updates to Cyberpunk 2077 like the gameplay overhaul seen in 2.0, it isn't ruling out smaller updates entirely. Alternatively, it's simple to combine. The Shared Services teams, who acquired one more team, would most certainly handle this type of job now. Under Localization, Quality Assurance, Data, Insights & Experiences, and Artificial Intelligence, this team is mentioned as looking after; so, were necessary under Quality Assurance, they most likely would be the ones looking after any future performance patches.

With so many projects in the pipeline, including a sequel that already has the ability to build on the advancements made to the original game, it seemed inevitable that soon CD Projekt Red would migrate on more fully from Cyberpunk 2077. With 407 teams working on the project, Polaris appears to be the main emphasis; Orion is the second biggest but makes sense given a road map developed by CD Projekt Red in April 2024 indicates it is in the Concept stage.

The Electronic Punk Universe's Future

The projects that seem to have benefited from this are Polaris, the forthcoming The Witcher game meant as "the beginning of a new saga" for the series and developed in Unreal Engine 5, and Orion, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 that Game Director Gabe Amatangelo - who helmed the work on Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty expansion - confirmed the team was turning its attention towards more fully earlier this year.

With five games reported to be in the works across the traditional Witcher and Cyberpunk series as well as a new IP, CDPR has revealed their revised pipeline This suggests that the studio is not completely deserting the universe even as it is leaving Cyberpunk 2077 behind. The team will keep discovering fresh worlds and narratives inside these already-known intellectual properties.

Cyberpunk 2077's Journey

Cyberpunk 2077, a first-person action RPG game set in a dystopian cyber future created by CD Projekt Red, is based on the 1988 tabletop game As configurable protagonist V, who battles to save their memories intact after obtaining a bizarre cybernetic implant that gradually overides their memories by a deceased celebrity known as Johnny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves, players will explore the streets of Night City.

Viewers were much anticipated the game. With the first release, the game had several issues, though. Still, the producers put much effort toward enhancing the offering. This has helped the game to be successful.

A Look Ahead

Set in the universe Mike Pondsmith developed in 1988, cyberpunk 2077 is an action RPG/FPS game. Played as V, a configurable main character with an augment allowing him to gradually re-write his memories with those of a dead celebrity performed by Keanu Reeves. The two must cooperate if the protagonist is to survive. As they finish chores, enhance themselves for better mobility, and modify their weaponry to meet the enemies living in the open city, players will lose themselves into the neon-lit, crime-ridden world of Night City. Phantom Liberty's expansion pack for the basic game will be out someplace in 2023.

The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has a lot of promise and might provide an interesting fresh adventure in the realm of the game. It is admirable how consistently the studio keeps enhancing the original work. Where the game proceeds from here will be fascinating.
