Netflix Cancels 'Kaos': Creator's Message & Fan Reaction

Netflix's Kaos, a dark comedy reimagining of Greek mythology, got cancelled after just one season. That's a bummer for fans, but the show's creator, Charlie Covell, has a message for everyone.

A Thank You and a Challenge

Even though Kaos is officially over, Covell took to SISTER's Instagram account to share some thoughts. They thanked everyone who watched, praised the cast and crew for their amazing work, and even mentioned noticing fan theories—one fan apparently guessed a key plot point!

It is a bummer the series ended. Yet, instead of moping, Covell urged fans to keep talking about the show, hoping that word-of-mouth will bring new viewers.

It's pretty clear Covell's statement means there are zero plans for Kaos season 2. Fans are disappointed, considering the epic cliffhanger season 1 ended on.

Many fans already know just how many unanswered questions this creates. What would have happened? What might have gone down if Zeus lost his crown?

It really was so cool the creative team left us with little breadcrumbs as it was clear a great deal of planning and intention went into Kaos' first season.

Kaos is another great show, not only for its overall amazing talent. But something many streamers don't often consider- if the show brings any viewers. That is why so many passionate shows were shut down! My Lady Jane, Dead Boy Detectives, and The Acolyte also fell victim to this sudden drop off.

Some amazing series failed to bring in those huge audiences and this really is a major risk.
Despite getting some really good reviews.
Shows with loyal fan bases were canned after only a single season.
Viewers were shocked at this sudden turn. Many were still unaware the show had come out, making the loss even more heartbreaking.

These shows fell under an almost unspoken rule. Being a smash hit requires being hugely popular in its first run! The pressure to succeed and its outcome hurts those involved with great potential shows. Hopefully this will change as these streaming platforms and productions, become more adept at viewing the needs and wants from the general public who pay these fees to have their fun, relaxed times with these entertainment series. Covell's message was about showing their gratitude but it also brings a feeling of unity! Celebrating Kaos, despite it being short, shows an incredibly bold stance, something to appreciate. And perhaps, an important lesson about how platforms should look after their own shows!

Fans certainly hoped that this would give a renewed take on the epic lore, allowing viewers to celebrate some of Greek Mythology's best known characters. It certainly added to the excitement for fans that are familiar with this epic legend, making a powerful imprint!
