NCIS: Abby Sciuto's Departure - Is This the End?

Fans are always wanting more of what they love from NCIS, a popular crime show!

While the main character, Abby Sciuto, who is known for being a forensic genius on the show, isn't going to be back anytime soon! Pauley Perrette has finally confirmed this.

In a move that brought sadness to many, Pauley Perrette left NCIS back in 2018! Some fans wished for Abby Sciuto to make a big return to the series but it was unlikely to ever happen considering how she left and some of the tension that was going on in the cast. It seems the cast had its share of problems when the actress had a well publicized clash with Mark Harmon (known for his role as Gibbs in NCIS.) This was a very difficult moment for fans of the show because, if anything, Gibbs and Abby Sciuto were an iconic pairing!

Since then, Pauley Perrette made some additional statements about her decision to leave the show. She made it clear in 2019 that it wasn't just the drama but an act that brought Harmon to the forefront!

It made those fans think twice about the whole dynamic and how she couldn't imagine ever going back.

It appears that many had been hanging on to some kind of hope.

There had been some signals about her coming back. The series' executives did go on to say they would like Perrette back. She was also seen with another former co-star Brian Dietzen so all of this made fans think there could be some chance. And this really did seem like Abby Sciuto would return soon, so to speak!

Unfortunately, it seems she took an opposite course and made the bold decision to retire! This was the most disappointing turn and may have given viewers the realization that Abby Sciuto will forever remain absent!

Why a Return Seemed Possible:

One of the biggest reasons to keep fans hooked? It was the fact that the series seemed to be in a new stage of growth and there are so many new and exciting possibilities.

If Pauley Perrette decided to make a comeback to acting this was a big opportunity for the NCIS team, which meant "Abby Sciuto" would have the ability to step into her own amazing narrative in the show! She could even just be a recurring character!
It didn't just stop there, they were given some additional hope! The series took its storyline to a new level. Even though it is still set in the U.S, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, took its stories beyond the U.S., across Europe, making it so unique! It would be a chance for the two iconic stars of NCIS to make a comeback!
Tony and Ziva were still on the run and looking for help.
One thing that fans have been holding onto! If this was a real event, and they got together, what an incredible, emotional reunion for these lovers.

We know how Pauley Perrette, said that she would leave the show forever in 2019 and even spoke about a reason. That makes Abby Sciuto's departure permanent for those of us who have been watching. If anything this might bring up thoughts of whether or not "NCIS" has made some changes or plans! You can bet that fans wish Perrette had known more about CBS, the show itself, or even the new spin offs!

No one can take away how incredible Abby Sciuto was for all of those fans. It looks like she has officially closed this chapter in her career. "NCIS" fans will have to hold onto the hope that those who produce the show or work for the franchise will come up with new, innovative and special ways for "Abby" to continue on, despite her absence!

If Pauley Perrette has chosen to exit NCIS and the series to leave the character in the past, there's no telling how they can keep that legacy alive! That could even come as a mention, giving her story even more depth in a way that really highlights all the fun times she gave to fans!
