We’ve already seen some awesome releases, and a whole lot more is coming, creating an amazing spectacle throughout the remainder of the year, However, production issues – namely, those pesky SAG-AFTRA strikes and internal reshuffling– changed those initial release dates for many titles; significantly altering which titles are actually slated for 2024; some shifted forward; some are delayed entirely; a truly chaotic moment. This is creating considerable excitement and uncertainty across that huge fanbase. We're going to cover everything. We are going to unpack it all, for both newer and longtime fans alike! Buckle up, because it's going to be wild!
Marvel Movies in 2024: From LEGO to Symbiotes!
LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition (October 18, 2024)
The tenth installment in this awesome series arrives on Disney+! This is one for all ages. Featuring familiar characters, D-Man (Dennis) teams up with Wolverine, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, and Black Widow! The usual LEGO Marvel style and those high energy antics should keep everyone satisfied.
Venom: The Last Dance (October 25, 2024)
Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock is back for one final time. And what a ride it will be. It follows that post-Spider-Man: No Way Home multiverse madness – building upon those plotlines developed earlier; finally giving a proper answer as to those multiple earlier instances! The most compelling parts showcase just how many creative plot ideas have been developed across different versions: This is an absolutely huge climax after the successful and surprisingly popular Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Venom 3's antagonist? That truly nasty, almost unimaginably strong baddie, Knull – the ultimate cosmic threat to everything, making for this truly awesome finale! Plus a shadowy government organization wants Venom. There are threats from his homeworld. The hints given suggest both Venom and Eddie Brock may meet an unfortunate ending and could redefine Sony's Spider-Man Universe.
Kraven the Hunter (December 13, 2024)
This Sony Spider-Man Universe entry features Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven! It originally had those early October 2023 release plans, shifted forward multiple times, arriving finally at December 13, 2024. The altered Kraven origin is important here because this story arc could actually branch out into more stuff – that awesome setup can be something very different depending upon the response to this upcoming title, potentially making Kraven into that amazing new antihero leading toward Sinister Six.
Even Spider-Man remains notably absent; Taylor-Johnson said this was intentional; this kind of creative and planned plot makes many audience members anticipating this; showcasing both the enormous potential from being different from what people expect.
Marvel TV Shows in 2024: A New Year of Shows on Disney+!
It's also important to notice some really compelling television coming soon to Disney+: Those MCU shows also suffered those release date shifts!
Echo (January 9, 2024): Maya Lopez Returns, Kingpin Returns! (Kinda…)
Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez makes her own solo series debut after her Hawkeye appearance. The marketing promised many other popular characters such as Vincent D’Onofrio's Kingpin and Charlie Cox's Daredevil–those two appeared initially after appearances in other popular shows, yet this entire show focused much more strongly around Maya; her fight for justice, reclaiming identity after that troubled event shown previously. Some of this had its problems; the production was rushed after serious issues post-production. Regardless, the core was truly impressive and remains significant because this story arc could’ve launched Kingpin into even bigger plot elements for this series; completely hinting at that ongoing story surrounding those villain plots within Marvel’s street-level superhero narratives.
Madame Web (February 14, 2024): A Multiverse-Based Mess (In A Good Way…)
Madame Web. This Sony Spider-Man Universe flick starred Dakota Johnson! It has moved forward! Arriving February 14, 2024, creating those important crossover events. The reviews, ouch. Madame Web bombed; being mocked for that questionable plot; resulting in even criticisms from that movie’s actors. Despite being largely derided, however, many find those humorous moments enjoyable!
X-Men ‘97 (March 20, 2024): A Nostalgic Return With Fresh Storylines!
Thirty years! And a new chapter of the popular 90s cartoon. X-Men ’97 picked up that exact story from Season 3, bringing back fan favorites and completely exceeding everyone's wildest hopes. The incredibly skilled and impressive Beau DeMayo helped deliver on nostalgia while expanding things cleverly; making many critics wildly positive, praising that terrific balance and using the entire narrative in impressive ways that truly surprised critics who originally felt uninspired. And that’s saying something! It easily becomes one of Marvel's best animated productions!
Deadpool & Wolverine (July 26, 2024): The Ultimate Marvel Mashup
The arrival of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman (this crazy comeback! Seriously awesome!). The third Deadpool film launches a whole new MCU era; this is officially that time for launching these characters and narratives in this franchise, using a totally cool multiverse approach; tying together other established plotlines involving this character with the introduction of the TVA, adding a compelling level of unpredictability within the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Many iconic cameos and that amazing blend of humor and heartwarming moments; bringing about several different surprises and moments which are absolutely awesome, this is a triumph and another very anticipated title which fully satisfies all those prior audience anticipations and perfectly incorporates much of that lore and plot details from various MCU projects across film and TV.
Agatha All Along (September 18, 2024) + Others…
This is currently the sole title which has an officially announced date and includes Kathryn Hahn’s incredible comeback role.
There’s a few others planned: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, more, all are likely getting delays! Exact dates remain shrouded in secrecy!
Conclusion: A Marvelous Year Full of Unexpected Surprises and Twists
2024 has some massive Marvel movies and shows; showcasing both what the fanbase enjoys; even those critically divisive films, adding elements like that deep lore-building from the various Spider-Man spinoffs and television! This might seem complicated for both the creatives and viewers alike! However, even that massive level of unpredictability can become a reason to keep coming back for more and to satisfy this long and demanding fanbase; yet some moments created through such unexpected developments become very significant and show some highly compelling creative storytelling elements from Marvel Studios; yet, these elements remain a significant part of why Marvel remains the foremost producer of comic book films today. And those shifts? It actually adds some more anticipation for fans and might actually pay off; giving another level of excitement and an edge to an already compelling story arc!
