Star Wars: Not Plo Koon, Kel Dor Jedi Is Not Acolyte
Note: Alert! SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Acolyte episode 4 abound in this page. Star Wars: The Acolyte's most recent episode has a Kel Dor Jedi, the same race as the fan-favorite Jedi Master Plo Koon. Originally appearing in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Plo Koon became to be dear to viewers with his prominence in the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, particularly as the mentor who originally discovered and looked after Ahsoka Tano. Since The Acolyte's timeline is set 100 years before The Phantom Menace, many started to believe the unknown age span of the Kel Dor species would let this new Jedi be Plo.
Regretfully, this is not the case. Star Wars on X (previously Twitter) has confirmed that this Kel Dor Jedi is Ithia Paan, and has no known relationship to Plo Koon whatsoever. Although this could alter throughout the series, it appears that for now Ithia Paan will be the Jedi representing the Kel Dor species in The Acolyte. Although many fans will find this unsatisfactory, it also indicates all that is yet to come in the most recent Star Wars production.
Star Wars Made The Appropriate Decision Not To Bring Plo Koon Back
Although having Plo Koon in The Acolyte would have been an exciting addition, Star Wars has finally made the wise choice in developing a fresh Kel Dor Jedi character instead. Star Wars can thus provide some prequels' nostalgia without attempting the two stories too near together. Though the fact She is different increases the stakes for this Jedi - and all the rest - even simply seeing Ithia Paan reminds viewers of Plo Koon.
Viewers now know that no Jedi on this mission is safe given the horrific cliffhanger The Acolyte episode 4 left off on. Should this Kel Dor Jedi be Plo Koon, spectators would be aware that the figure would eventually survive, therefore reducing the overall stakes for all. Any one Jedi could get out alive, hence any other Jedi could as well. Now that Star Wars has verified this is a new character, viewers are unsure of just who will make it through this trauma.
The Acolyte's Kel Dor Jedi: A New Character With a Fascinating Role
Although this specific Jedi might not be Plo Koon, Ki-Adi Mundi is at least another much-loved prequel Jedi who has returned. The credits of episode 4 confirm the name of the Cerean Jedi Master, which seems suitably lot younger than he is in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Even if Plo Koon won't be among his peers during the time of The Acolyte, it's still exciting to see these recognizable prequels making some sort of comeback—including the Kel Dor species.
The Acolyte features the Kel Dor Jedi, Ithia Paan, in a major part. The character's presence heightens the suspense of the narrative by implying the intricate dynamics of the Jedi Order under the High Republic Era. The Acolyte explores a comparatively untapped period in Star Wars history, allowing the show to add fresh characters and narratives extending the franchise. The show's major player, Ithia Paan gives the story complexity and richness.
