It has been confirmed by Jesse Williams, who portrayed Tobert in the third season of the critically acclaimed Hulu series "Only Murders In The Building," that he will not be coming back for the fourth season. Williams joined the cast as a cameraman employed by Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd) to documentarize his stage debut; however, Glenroy's premature death tragically ended this endeavor.
Though unexpected at first, Williams' exit from the show appears to be final. He made it very evident in an interview with People that he would not be coming back for the upcoming season. Given his developing relationship with Mabel (played by Selena Gomez) in the previous season, fans are curious about Tobert's future in light of this news.
Even though Tobert's future is still unknown, the upcoming season still has a lot of exciting possibilities. Season 4 will see Meryl Streep return as the aspirant actress Loretta, a role she took on in season 3. She briefly fell in love with Oliver (Martin Short), and their complex connection may open doors for her character to make a comeback to the program.
With the trio setting out on a new journey in Los Angeles at the conclusion of season 3, Tobert's storyline was left largely unfinished, and the prospect of a reunion between Tobert and Mabel appeared likely. Williams' unambiguous announcement of his departure, though, seems to imply that Tobert's tenure on the program is coming to an end.
