Leno can be seen moving to different locations in his classic fire engine. This has become a symbol of his dedication and unique approach to assisting with these situations.
Fire crews from the Central Valley California are among those Leno has met while also working with other Southern California departments. These teams are on the front lines of dangerous fires and Leno recognizes their work with hands-on aid.
Leno’s journey to camp sites with TMFR and other departments highlight all areas he wanted to be a part of. Many teams appreciate seeing his iconic truck and have some type of recognition of the well known face. This outreach is a way to build morale while making them feel that their efforts are seen.
A noted moment occurred when Leno visited a base camp where Anderson Cooper from CNN was filming his coverage of the fire. They had a candid exchange where Leno offers food to Cooper and his crew using his antique fire engine to carry the items. This meeting further shows Leno’s dedication to being present in real time and showing support using his personal interest in vintage fire equipment.
During the conversation he gave his view on the devastation highlighting what he thought was the extreme nature of the destruction stating " It's an entire city wiped out." He focused on the positive parts too showing unity of communities coming together to help those in need and a bond made during that tragic situation.
As a longtime resident of Los Angeles he had also made it known how large and wide the spread was from what he had been shown personally from on the ground view. Leno spoke of neighbors meeting neighbors they have never met previously who are helping those around them.
