Jay Leno directly refuted tabloid claims about holding significant gambling debts to the mob as he addressed recent and unusual injuries during Club Random podcast with Bill Maher. The rumors grew after a series of odd accidents including a fall outside a Hampton Inn in Pennsylvania leaving him with facial bruises an eye patch as well as wrist and nail damage plus suffering burns in his personal garage working on a steam car.
Jay Leno had facial bruising and an eye patch after a 60-foot hill fall outside of a Hampton Inn located in Pennsylvania where he also suffered wrist injuries and lost a fingernail as reported. Two years before that unfortunate hotel incident Jay Leno experienced considerable burns to the chest hand and face in his garage that he claimed were from trying to fix his old 1907 White Steam Car and a gas fire from the fuel lines. Those earlier accidents involved skin grafting treatments for damage.
Bill Maher specifically asked Jay Leno regarding many rumors claiming that Leno had considerable gambling debts with the mob linking those mob debt claims to his string of accidents on Club Random podcast where Leno was a guest . Bill Maher expressed many speculations he had heard that his fall at Hampton Inn outside of Greenberg Pennsylvania was related to a Mob beating because he owed these organized criminals too much money. Maher explained the “hill-tossing” scenario appeared to be a “cover story” that is often created to disguise mob violence and beatings according to internet theories.
Jay Leno rebutted this particular mob theory saying the mob would likely target a person who needs to pay debts. Leno explained he loved the idea of mobsters waiting outside the Hampton Inn in inclement weather for a person who could pay them. Leno clarified other accident involving his motorcycle occurred when a rope that someone set up was not clearly visible that actually resulted in the bike accident which is what actually damaged his face that he had recently reconstructed from the previous incident. Jay Leno joked that he contacted his "face guy" who also reconstructed his damaged face following his prior burn incident due to issues from the rope hitting his face at high speed on a motorbike.
Jay Leno who reportedly holds about half a billion dollars and has an enormous assortment of collectible classic vehicles addressed the claims that he could possibly owe mobsters considerable sums of money. Leno added that if he did truly have any considerable financial debt with the mafia "they wouldn't just take one of my cars to pay the gambling debt" highlighting the sheer ridiculousness of the rumor since a mob would not be physical first when the individual owned countless classic vehicles. This statement dismisses any claims about owing considerable gambling debts. Leno has many collectible classic cars with extremely high market values that Organized Crime figures would pursue rather than physical retribution.
