Movies News Talk
Jamie Lee Curtis will not be joining the cast of One Piece season 2 notwithstanding general support and campaigning from both fans and the actress herself. The executive producer of the Netflix adaptation, Becky Clements, confirmed the news and attributed scheduling conflicts as the cause. Clements did disclose, though, that the show features "an amazing person" to represent the venerable Dr. Kureha.
Curtis had freely shown her excitement about portraying Dr. Kureha in the series, even teasingly implying that she was "a little old" to fit Nico Robin. Following the successful premiere of season 1, she reiterated her enthusiasm in the post-SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike post. Showrunner Matt Owens even openly suggested that Curtis join the cast, implying she could land the part without having to advocate for it.
She loves the show, Clements said to explain Curtis's absence. Our production dates won't work because she has too many movies and TV shows under development. She wanted to do it most definitely, but it got complicated since she had first position deals. We have come across a really remarkable person.
Although fans may find the news of Curtis's absence to be upsetting, the inclusion of Dr. Kureha in One Piece season 2 is still a good sign. Tony Tony Chopper will be joining the season, thus Kureha's appearance seemed almost certain. Chopper is a fundamental character in both the manga and the anime since she learns the art of medicine under Kureha's direction.
Curtis won't be performing Dr. Kureha, thus there's still a chance she might show up in a next One Piece season. Other roles that would fit her have even been recommended by some supporters as Boa Hancock, head of the Kuja tribe, or Big Mom, captain of the Big Mom Pirates. Given Curtis's sincere enthusiasm for the One Piece universe, it would be a lost chance not to investigate alternative approaches to include her into the programme.
Based on the well-liked manga and anime series Eiichiro Oda created, One Piece chronicles the exploits of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man set out to be the Pirate King. Following a Devil Fruit that gives him rubber powers, Luffy gathers a group of devoted friends called the Straw Hats to negotiate the Grand Line and locate the fabled One Piece treasure.
Widely praised when One Piece season 1 debuted on Netflix in August 2023 The program has drawn compliments for its vivid characters, accuracy to the original content, and exciting action scenes. The great success of season 1 helped to shape the much awaited season 2, which is under production right now.
Fans are excited about the arrival of a fresh set of characters—including Dr. Kureha—with One Piece season 2 on horizon. New challenges, thrilling adventures, and gripping narratives abound in the season. The Straw Hats will negotiate even more dangerous seas and encounter even more powerful enemies as they search for the One Piece.
