Is There Really A Feud Between James Cameron and Roland Emmerich?

So the word on the street is that those two legendary directors, James Cameron and Roland Emmerich, might have some tension - especially regarding the Fantastic Voyage Remake. But if you're expecting a full-blown Hollywood Feud, don't hold your breath.

Why'd James Cameron Dump Fantastic Voyage?

It seems that James Cameron actually tried to get this remake off the ground - think those wild sci-fi movie remakes we all love - and brought on other directors over the years to try and bring the movie to life. You have to give it to Cameron: the man has got this drive, and is very well-known for his James Cameron Projects! He's pretty busy though - especially with that giant Avatar Franchise. It even got a reboot - and now we are waiting on the new Avatar films!

How did Roland Emmerich Get Involved?

He was almost ready to make that Fantastic Voyage Remake! The guy directed big-time Movies like Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow. That's the guy they wanted to take on this classic sci-fi movie.

Emmeric was actually brought onto this project and worked with Cameron on making it come to life - even if they did butt heads - But Cameron kinda backed off the project to focus on something else.

So Was It a Feud?

It sounds like it was blown way out of proportion! There is no serious beef, at least according to Cameron. He might have been a little bossy, like Emmeric claimed - he was probably a tough critic and gave Emmeric some tough notes to help him out - It was probably a creative difference, really.

What Was It All About?

The Fantastic Voyage Remake - Imagine shrunk down into a human body - It's wild, super popular and was directed back in the 60's. The film involved a whole crew of amazing specialists on a grand mission - with cool secret government orgz like, biologists, scientists, and a bunch of characters with special powers!
So you have this super popular sci-fi movie - and now there was talk of doing this huge remake, so that got everyone super excited.

In all honesty, this is a fun little Hollywood thing, especially if you love sci-fi! You might find yourself talking about this story on the next San Diego Comic-Con! Who knows what these Directors are going to work on next!
