Released first, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew's first impression seems to be one of reference to The Empire Strikes Back. For Skeleton Crew, this secret Easter Egg could have big ramifications.
Serving Luke Skywalker's gunner during the Battle of Hoth, Dak Ralter had a minor part in The Empire Strikes Back. Though he was friends with Luke, his on-screen career was brief since he was killed in a fight with the Empire's AT-ATs.
Albertmpadilla, a Twitter user, noted a minute detail in one of the Skeleton Crew photos. Ryan Kiera Armstrong's character Fern is sporting a leather vest with a patch sewed on the front bearing Aurebesh letters spelling "DAK". The letters on Fern's jacket translate to Dak; Aurebesh is the Star Wars equivalent of an alphabet.
This would allude to Dak Ralter. Should Fern be Dak's daughter, she directly relates to Luke Skywalker and might prove to be a major player on the forthcoming production.
Should Fern be Dak's daughter, Skeleton Crew has a lot of intriguing options. Given Dak's friendship with Luke Skywalker and his death, Fern most certainly grew up hearing tales about him.
The setting of the show, which falls within the same period as The Mandalorian, would see Fern meeting Luke Skywalker—or perhaps even glimpses of a young Luke Skywalker. Fern might inherit Dak's piloting ability as well as his bravery and selflessness, qualities that would most definitely make her a fascinating character.

Four small children who get lost in the galaxy are followed in the show as they try to get home. The show is supposed to have a coming-of-age narrative at its core, thus the possible link to Dak Ralter and Luke Skywalker could provide the story an emotional richness.
With the chance to investigate themes of friendship, loss, and family, Skeleton Crew is poised to be a singular addition to the Star Wars universe. The link to Dak Ralter and Luke Skywalker gives the narrative an interesting layer and begs issues about Fern's place in the galaxy and her future.
