Inquisitors: Darth Vader's Jedi Hunters in Star Wars

Darth Vader's Jedi Hunters: The Imperial Inquisitors

The vicious troops of Darth Vader hounded the Jedi Order to extinction in the dark days that followed the establishment of the Galactic Empire. Their goal was to eliminate any last challenge to the Sith Lord's new government. However, Darth Vader did not operate alone. He hired a group of skilled operatives known as the Inquisitors—former Jedi who had converted to the evil side—whose job it was to find and destroy any Order 66 survivors.

The head of the Inquisitorius, known as the Grand Inquisitor

The most well-known Inquisitor was the Grand Inquisitor, a Pau'an Jedi Temple Guard who abandoned the Jedi Order after seeing how Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee were treated improperly. Unknown to the public, the Grand Inquisitor was the main enforcer of Darth Vader and was in charge of searching the galaxy for Jedi survivors. He was a powerful opponent due to his merciless effectiveness and command of the dark side, but he was ultimately defeated by Order 66 survivor Kanan Jarrus.

The Additional Inquisitors: A List of Jedi Fallen

Numerous additional Inquisitors, each with distinct skills and goals, served the Empire in addition to the well-known and terrifying Grand Inquisitor. Among these Jedi Hunters were the Seventh Sister, a crafty tactician who preferred a more delicate approach, and the Fifth Brother, a brute who depended on brute force. After being subjected to torture by the Empire, the Second Sister—previously known as the Padawan Trilla Suduri—was a tragic woman who turned evil. Once the Jedi Masana Tide, the Ninth Sister was renowned for her pain tolerance and empathic qualities. The Jango Jumper Eighth Brother was a formidable fighter who used both dexterity and explosives.

Past the Principal Inquisitors: Unknown Jedi Hunters

The Inquisitors were not just the ones from Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars Rebels. In the book Ahsoka, The Sixth Brother was a cowardly bully who Ahsoka Tano eventually killed. After losing faith in the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars, the Tenth Brother—previously known as the Jedi Prosset Dibs—was an Inquisitor. Iskat Akaris, often known as the Thirteenth Sister, was a naturally unstable Jedi Knight that Palpatine tricked into joining the Inquisitors. After being abandoned for dead after Order 66, Iskat Akaris's girlfriend, Twi'lek Jedi Tualon Yaluna, also enlisted in the Inquisitors. In Tales of the Jedi, a mystery Inquisitor also made an appearance before Ahsoka Tano murdered and vanquished him.

The Legacy of the Inquisitors: A Dark Spot on the Star Wars Universe

A crucial component of the Empire's effort to exterminate the Jedi and establish its dominance over the galaxy was the Inquisitors. The Star Wars galaxy was forever changed by their acts, which involved the pursuit and killing of several defenseless individuals with Force sensitivity. The Inquisitors continue to serve as a terrifying warning about the strength of the evil side and the perils of giving in to its temptations. We can anticipate finding out more about the Inquisitors' history, place of origin, and enduring impact on the galaxy as the Star Wars Saga progresses.
