Hijack has been renewed by Apple TV+ for a second season, therefore ending almost six months of conjecture about the immediate future of the popular action show. Returning to star once more, Idris Elba will also act as a producer behind-scenes for season 2.
Season 1 Hijack ended on August 2, 2023.
According to Idris Elba, immediately after the second season was confirmed, Hijack Season 2 began filming in June 2024. This is great, but he also indicated that he expects the production to go until the year ends, suggesting that a release date is still somewhat far off. Though that is not definite, the earliest probable premiere date of the show would be the summer of 2025.
The most recent data reveals that Hijack season 2 has acquired three new cast members as rumors on the unexpected second season of the Apple TV+ original series start to circulate. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the cast of the Idris Elba-led Thriller includes Toby Jones (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Lisa Vicari (Dark), and Christiane Paul (Vampire Sisters). Though more details on the season's plot and cast should be accessible in the future, it is unknown what roles the performers will have.
The statement also revealed that Hijack has reached its previously stated June 2024 filming window and that filming for Season 2 has started. Elba had before said that the program would most likely run until the end of 2024, so a release date is definitely some distance off.
Star and producer Idris Elba as Sam Nelson, the everyman, is the only verified Hijack cast member returning for season 2. Though it hasn't been confirmed, Elba will most likely be the sole season 1 actor to repeat his part given new cast members for season 2. Though their individual character details are currently unknown, Toby Jones, Lisa Vicari, and Christiane Paul have all been announced to be members of the Hijack season 2 ensemble.
The second known Hijack season consists in:
Actor | Role Hijack
Sam Nelson / Idris Elba
Toby Jones | Not Known
Lisa Vicari | Identity Unknown
Christiane Paul | Unknown
It is clear from Elba's expected comeback for season 2 that whatever transpires in the follow-up will not be a repeat of the events of the first season.
What the second Hijack season plot will center on is not known. Elba reportedly warned he would not come back should another hijacking narrative surface. Rather, he wants Sam back on another journey but not a replica of the story from the first season. Elba's comeback scheduled for season 2 makes it abundantly evident that whatever transpires in the follow-up won't be a repeat of the events from the first season.
Hijack for Apple TV was developed by creators of Criminal, George Kay and Jim Field Smith. Idris Elba plays Sam Nelson, a corporate business negotiator caught on a seven-hour flight to London on a plane taken over by elements of organized crime functioning as terrorists. Sam defuses the matter and saves the passengers on board by using his negotiating abilities and the help of a counterterrorism officer on the ground.
Season 2 is already under production even though the launch date is yet unknown. Action Thrillers, especially ones featuring Idris Elba, are definitely something viewers who appreciate are looking forward the second season. Apple TV+ is almost sure to turn out another triumph.
