He received the deadly decree; convinced it didn't make sense (he thinks he’s a good guy) leading him to found The New Truth.   This organization became insanely powerful—people started treating him like some kind of divine prophet that helped navigate the very weird new reality!

He ruled completely through fear; the methods included control; completely utilizing various forms of manipulation that created his influence and ultimately secured and improved his influence within that organization, even to the detriment of everyone.

8. Sodo’s Secret Fight: Undermining the New Truth

It is easy to simply get caught up and not recognize those small factions acting secretly from underneath, however those actions made this particular organization far more valuable to understand! The Sodo organization aided anyone needing private demonstrations, creating safety from persecution, for their actions that help improve their situations within the social structures they are fighting.

7. Min Hye-jin's Survival and Sodo's Revelation

This woman became a truly remarkable character despite barely appearing: Min Hye-jin. This is noted later because it completely shocks viewers after these kinds of seemingly casual introductions! The initial assumption was that she's been killed for working with sinners–  but she's alive. And found the Sodo organization; ultimately playing a part in exposing The New Truth’s lies; exposing the abusive power structure and revealing these heinous actions!   A genuinely fascinating and surprisingly powerful character arc.

6. So-hyun's Baby and the Crumbling Doctrine: Why Would God Condemn An Infant?

So-hyun’s baby receiving the decree throws everything completely into disarray; this baby just doesn't make any sense! And it becomes something bigger.  It creates intense conflict: exposing The New Truth's inability to rationalize the completely random nature that is the core belief within that whole system of belief itself; creating a crisis.

5. The Arrowhead Streamer's Betrayal (and His Own Condemnation)

That streamer totally supported The New Truth –  but then really hates the group! It turns out; after learning he had received that condemned decree and facing the looming inevitability, that changes. He provides the information on So-hyun’s baby's location; the baby becomes something much larger in this drama.  His eventual killing completely shocked audiences, given how early he appeared; completely unexpected!

4. The Mystery of the Demon Attacks: Divine Justice, or Something Far More Sinister?

Initially perceived as divine intervention by the viewers– that assumption becomes entirely destroyed when they later learn how truly random these condemned and punished were; those punished individuals have a mysterious element that doesn’t seem connected to what their doctrines suggested. This plot element made Hellbound’s first season so gripping.

3. Bae Young-jae and So-hyun’s Sacrificial Act: Saving Their Baby!

This pair found themselves suddenly thrown into this truly frightening scenario: receiving a deadly decree! The journalist Young-jae was unwilling to trust The New Truth; it was necessary to create additional conflict that only increased as this episode progresses and he makes some other unexpected yet satisfying revelations, leading toward his sacrifice that makes this storyline especially compelling, considering just how unexpected and impacting that event turns out to be.

This is insanely surprising and critical to understanding the main mysteries behind Hellbound’s universe and mythology! The baby received the death decree but survived! A seriously shocking deviation which changes a lot in the season ending! And the whole idea that random execution isn’t truly arbitrary makes the possibility for much deeper meaning that can only be appreciated during a rewatch.

1. Park Jeong-ja’s Resurrection: The Greatest Mystery of All!

A moment of complete awe; one that totally makes that climax far more effective: Jeong-ja’s resurrection!  Her death made her site sacred—then her remains become alive. That raises enormous questions which can only make us all anticipate Hellbound Season 2 far more intensely!
