And as many of you already know – this series sounds oddly similar to another Ryan Murphy creation: American Horror Story, but it has elements also similar to True Detective season 1. 6. Father Charlie and Lois Clash: A Broken Partnership?

At the hospital, Lois and Father Charlie finally confront one another, fueled by Megan's near-death. Their tense encounter emphasizes that neither is happy and a direct consequence stemming from the earlier near-death situation. Father Charlie blames Lois—highlighting her alcoholism, and her failures. Nurse Redd (Lesley Manville—such a wildly entertaining character) shows up! The crazy part: She reveals a long-term affair with Lois’s husband (before his coma) making that mystery element involving his sudden injury something to reconsider! Her visit to Lois delivers surprising plot details and unexpectedly funny insights and her intensely over-the-top portrayal delivers additional drama. Lois freaks, threatens to shoot Redd – which totally showcases how impacted and troubled Lois is in this story.

After analyzing Maisie's words; Lois finds another horrifying crime scene: a plant; yet the victims are surprisingly still alive, although held in an intensely troubling and quite barbaric mechanism. Four pregnant people are found to be supplying their breast milk; forcefully, creating that extremely strange context which shocks the viewers. This intense, unusual setup is truly chilling and adds a lot more potential twists into this existing narrative.

It ends in another intense confrontation! Lois finds what seems to be Grotesquerie's lair –and another masked killer attacks her using a knife! Lois shoots her attacker!
