Why Was "Fuller House" So Different from "Full House"?
It's like two halves of a very popular sitcom, and if you haven't seen both - Full House, and the sequel Fuller House - you've gotta! You'll catch some hilarious differences between the original family sitcom, and the continuation! Andrea Barber, the lady who plays Kimmy Gibbler - you'll know her if you watched it - really had some major feelings about this super cool sequel that turned out to be very popular.
Fuller House - A Whole New Vibe
- You probably remember Kimmy - the ultimate Full House sidekick, right? Andrea Barber thought they were gonna have to change the story of Kimmy, since the new Fuller House had a big twist in how it came together.
- Fans really loved Full House, but, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson decided to step away, so it made a major shift. In the sequel - they took those details and brought in a bunch of new things. That meant that Kimmy got to play a bigger role and that they also added Kimmy's family - with dad, Jimmy Gibbler, and her mother.
- Now, this totally messed up the original story from Full House, because Kimmy had no siblings, nor were her parents even mentioned in those early years!
How Could Fans Handle a Gibbler Family?
Andrea Barber got a little nervous about what fans were going to say! She totally expected a lot of backlash from diehard Full House fans - and I think it really made the story a bit different. Fans might say that "Full House retcon" isn't very realistic, but hey, those were just those creative liberties that come with TV shows. And if you are into the whole Tanner family story - it really brings more family drama! That really gave Kimmy’s story a bit more dimension. We also see her relationship with Stephanie change! Those two even ended up being super close friends, and Kimmy became a mom to Stephanie’s daughter! And her boyfriend, Jimmy, kind of took center stage, too. This even caused a little tension between Kimmy and her brother. What can I say? Sibling rivalry can be intense.
What's the Deal with "Fuller House" Fans?
Those Full House and Fuller House fans have so many theories, too. They have rewatched everything - even listened to the new Full House rewatch podcast - to try and figure it all out! The new Full House actors had their share of fun, because there were just so many details to discover, from those funny storylines and even the new music.
Will "Fuller House" Still Be a Comfort Watch for Fans?
Those family sitcom fans who got into both series are lucky to get to watch them, even the series finale - which left viewers wanting more! We are always hearing rumors about a Fuller House spin-off. Maybe one day. But for now, we're happy to dive into the world of those shows and remember how important family is in "Full House and Fuller House."
And you are not going to miss out! It's a ton of fun - both Full House and Fuller House - are easy to find if you want to check them out!
