You wouldn't believe the latest drama happening in the Full House universe! Remember Christine Lakin, who played the iconic "Step by Step" sister? Well, she claims she got fired from her role in season 2 of Fuller House. Apparently, the culprit might be the one and only Candace Cameron Bure, the beloved DJ Tanner.
In an episode of the podcast "How Rude, Tanneritos!", hosted by the real-life Tanner siblings Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, Lakin revealed how she was dropped from Fuller House just days before the season 2 table read. Lakin says she got a call from her manager, informing her that things changed with the script, and suddenly, she was not needed for the character anymore. She claims that it all stemmed from a "Funny or Die" video she participated in where she was mocking Kirk Cameron, Candace's brother, over his anti-LGBTQ+ comments. It's pretty obvious she thinks this viral video, which caught a lot of attention, sparked some "bad blood" that lasted all the way to her Fuller House opportunity. It sounds like a real bummer for Lakin, and it's not easy to stomach that your career opportunity was impacted because of your humor!
Remember Lakin wasn't the first to call out Candace on her stance. Remember when Cameron Bure was the big cheese at the Great American Family network? Back in 2022, she revealed that they would only showcase "traditional marriage," meaning they'd be against including LGBTQ+ relationships on the network. Even actress Miss Benny alleged that Candace tried to get her character on the show kicked off because she was LGBTQ+, which Candace strongly denied.
With a whole lotta history with controversy surrounding her, and even the history surrounding Kirk Cameron and his maskless gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, it feels like Christine Lakin has a strong point here. It all comes down to that "spark," whether it's true or not, between the two. Time will tell if more details are shared and maybe even Candace's perspective comes out, but for now, Lakin is pretty vocal about her experience and everyone's making a big deal about it.
Full House is back and better than ever with a second generation taking over the reins, focusing on DJ Tanner-Fuller, her kids, Stephanie Tanner, and Kimmy Gibbler! Fuller House is definitely bringing a familiar vibe, revisiting all the classic themes from the first show. It all unfolds right back at the Tanner household in San Francisco, California. But you know, things can change in an instant. This time around, there's a mix of new and old faces, which shows there's room for everyone in the Fuller House family. Except, apparently, if you've ever poked fun at Kirk Cameron. But hey, that's what makes things so interesting! We never knew our favorite Full House reunion was going to be wrapped up with accusations, controversy, and drama, did we?
Fuller House is more than just another television series - it's an emotional rollercoaster of nostalgia and relatable humor. This time, though, there's some serious drama taking over. You gotta wonder how it's going to impact the dynamics of this family-friendly series!
