Star Wars Canon's witches have created life before.
Actually, *Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith* built up The Acolyte's new Force power. There Palpatine related Anakin Skywalker the story of his Sith instructor, Darth Plagueis. Palpatine said that Darth Plagueis could force the Midi-chlorians into producing life. But "Bug" shows that a Nightsister called Falta was also able to accomplish this; Plagueis wasn't the only one who could. It's noteworthy to notice that this has now been connected twice with witchcraft.
The Sith have always taken Force powers from other traditions; in ancient times they even had so-called Darkseekers, who searched the galaxy looking for possible rival cults. To guarantee nobody could question their dark side power, they would pilfers their secrets and subsequently kills them. Since the Sith are known to have devoted a lot of time to doing this with the Nightsisters, it is likely that Darth Plagueis learnt his powers from one coven of witches or another.
Five years ago, the Acolyte's shocking new force-power was actually introduced.
Though it was actually set up five years previously in a forgotten but highly-influential Star Wars short fiction, The Acolyte episode 3 presented an amazing new Force power. When *The Acolyte* revealed the actual birthplace of the twins Osha and Mae, viewers were shocked since Mother Aniseya claimed her own Force power produced them. This has proved to be somewhat divisive; some argue that the concept of children born of the Force somehow renders Anakin Skywalker less unique.
Host of *The Cantina Cast* podcast Albert M. Padilla has noted over on Twitter that this Force capability has been hinted at before in E. Anne Convery's short story "Bug." Released in *Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Stories of Light & Dark*, this concentrated on the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Foreshadowing the survival of Nightsisters - and even featuring a character that feels like the basis for Lady Morgan Elsbeth, a prominent character in *The Mandalorian* season 2 and *Ahsoka*, "Bug" has turned out to be a shockingly important short tale.
The Key Differentiator Between this Coven and the Nightsisters
One important distinction, though, between the power the coven uses in *The Acolyte* and the one the Nightsister Falta employs is While Falta raised her child in one of the Nightsisters' distinctive pods, Mother Aniseya supposedly produced the twins in Mother Koril's womb. Though they are obviously versions of the same Force power, Mother Aniseya's indicated achievement in *The Acolyte* is somewhat more amazing.
