Fans of Prime Video's post-apocalyptic hit, Fallout, are eager for season 2! But what's the scoop?
Fallout Season 2 Update
It's been about half a year since the first season premiered. Ella Purnell, who plays Lucy MacLean, gave an interesting update. In a recent interview with Variety, she mentioned she hasn't seen any scripts yet!
This comes as a surprise, since Amazon execs Jennifer Salke and Vernon Sanders announced back in July 2024 that scripts were complete. They didn't give a filming start date, though. But, Purnell jokingly mentioned getting in shape for all that running. This seems to be a big indicator that season 2 might not be ready yet!
What Does It All Mean?
Purnell not knowing about season 2 could mean a few things. The production is super complex! It could be a matter of getting scheduling right with a large cast. Also, showrunner Jonah Nolan said in August they are making it bigger and better this season with iconic Fallout monsters.
- More monsters means more production time and more visual effects.
- It's not just about adding the Deathclaws (Wagner wants to make this amazing for the show).
- Amazon MGM is also trying to work on its scheduling for "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" season 3. There may be some delays to figure out the right release order.
Predictions for Fallout Season 2
Season 1 of Fallout just came out earlier this year, and if we go by how long other shows usually take for filming, it may take Amazon until sometime around Spring 2025 to get the ball rolling.
It takes time for such a huge production, and this show already confirmed what to expect. Getting everything right would involve having:
- actors available
- special effects created
- proper post-production
Ella Purnell's Thoughts
Despite this uncertain timeline, Purnell's comments don't seem to be too negative! She seemed hopeful about things moving forward!
The whole idea of the big run around areas in season 2 gives some exciting hints:
- It may hint that Lucy goes on a journey across the wasteland.
- Maybe she is even trying to make it to New Vegas!
It sounds exciting, doesn't it? Getting things together, for a big production like Fallout almost always leads to good things in the end, so expect more exciting developments to come in future updates! There's a chance season 2 will become one of Amazon's greatest hits yet, based on its first run!
