Fallout Season 2: Filming Starts Sooner Than Expected!
Get ready, Fallout fans! Season 2 is coming sooner than you think. That awesome post-apocalyptic drama based on the legendary video game series is finally getting its sequel. The first season was an instant hit. It's shown the dwellers from Vaults 31, 32, and 33, those crazy Brotherhood of Steel members, alongside some bounty hunters unravelling the mysteries of Vault-Tec (all the crazy stuff that happened in that series was made into this amazingly exciting, thrilling first season that came out this year on April 10th exclusively on Prime Video!). The first season ended with huge cliffhangers. The sequel will explore more Vault-Tec shenanigans – totally intense!
We previously only got vague hints concerning when season 2 would arrive, as earlier teases suggested that production was going to happen "soon," in August, yet we finally have answers!
We got exclusive news at New York Comic Con. We talked to the legendary Leslie Uggams (Betty Pearson, the Overseer of Vault 33, a major character!). She spilled the beans – production kicks off this November. Here's exactly what she said:
“That is an amazing, amazing show. I am with the Vault People, so I didn't get to see what the Earth people were doing. So when it came on, I was blown away. But Betty's got some things up her sleeve. Just stay tuned.”
“We start November. I'm excited about it.”
That’s awesome news.Considering season 1 came out in April 2024 and season 2 was greenlit onlyeight daysafter, the writers need some time to get the story going and complete that work which helps build the foundation of the show.
Season 1 began shooting way back on July 5, 2022; ending up onApril 10, 2024. The whole process was incredibly fast and it seems the timeline will continue this pattern. Given those previous timeframes, it’s entirely plausible for a season 2 to air somewhere in late2025or possibly in early2026. That fast turnaround is mostly due to prior developments: that already created sets, costumes, and props means that much of the effort remains less concerned with building new elements than with rewriting the story and completing VFX.
This isn’t just straightforward shooting however! The size ofFallout'scast and those related story points make things particularly difficult. There's that insane story aroundHank,Lucy, theGhoul, theBrotherhood of Steel’s continued activities alongsideMaximus; not to mentionMoldaver'smilitia andNorm'scontinued efforts – the huge complexity involved means we can expect intense work and production challenges! These require much time; but this quick pre-production means things would accelerate greatly in the post-production!
That November start date suggests serious post-production time pressures! VFX are huge for this particular show; with other significant difficulties involved. The numerous storylines across multiple locations and various actors make those tasks intense! However, it doesn’t sound too unrealistic – we simply want to keep reasonable expectations, especially concerning that quick pre-production schedule and many details we still lack concerning their ultimate release.
Leslie Uggams’comments about a November production date is truly hype-worthy! Season 2 is really almost here! The return to the Fallout wasteland feels closer, yet there is another critical issue that affects how people will experience this sequel; post-production complications with those massive VFX requirements may significantly increase the timeframe for releasing season 2! Let’s all cross fingers!
