Sungyre Clarified
Whichever the reason Sunfyre is hidden in House of the Dragon, the moment the grandiose dragon shows on-screen should be fulfilling.
The much awaited dragon Sunfyre, sometimes known as Sunfyre the Golden, has a strong rider in Aegon II. Although season 1's Aegon II is shown as an irresponsible, terrible youngster devoid of many redeemable traits, this may not be exactly shown in House of the Dragon Season 2. Young dragon Sunggy the Golden stands out with golden scales. Archmaester Gyldayn writes in Fire & Blood of the most magnificent dragon in history. Given the book's great respect for the dragon, Sunfyre's second season's opening is sure to be well greeted.
House of the Dragon Recaps Significant Targaryen Dragons in New Video, Missing a Big One
While it leaves out a much-anticipated dragon, a new House of the Dragon film summarizes every significant Targaryen dragon and their rider. Based on George R. R. Martin's fictitious, historical narrative of the Targaryens prior to A Game of Thrones, the epic fantasy show With season 1 tracking the inciting events leading to the conflict, the drama centers on the Targaryen civil war—also known as the Dance of the Dragons—where Rhaenyra Targaryen and Aegon II struggle for the iron throne.
In a recent Max, House of the Dragon video, each significant Targaryen dragon and their rider are reviewed; but, Aegon II's Sunfyre is omitted. View the complete video down below:
At last the Dance of the Dragons is here.
Tragic events in HOTD's season 1 ending formally separate the realm under the Targaryen Queen and King. At last the Dance of the Dragons is starting.
Starting with Rhaenys Targaryen's Meleys, sometimes known as The Red Queen, the film opens with a scene of Rhaenys and Meleys fiercely confronting the royal family at Aegon II's coronation. Major participants like Rhaenyra's Syrax, Daemon's Ceraxes (called The Blood Wyrm by the dragonkeepers), and the unfortunate Arrax, ridden by Lucerys "until he wasn't," are also included in the rest of the video in lighthearted manner.
The Arrival of the Targaryens
About 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon chronicles the ascent of the Targaryens, the only family of dragonlords to withstand the Doom of Valyria. Milly Alcock and Emily Carey originally starred Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower before Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke, who play the adult versions of the characters, took front stage. Along with King Viserys Targaryen, Matt Smith (Prince Daemon Targaryen) and Paddy Considine as Rhaenyra's father also feature in the show.

The Dragon's Absence: The Motive
Therefore, one often wonders why Aegon II's Sunfyre hardly gets on screen time in season 1. It was anticipated of Aegon II to show his kinship with the dragon, yet House of the Dragon season 1 hardly features the dragon. Sunfyre is only hinted at even as the Season 2 trailers start to premiere. All of this points to Sunfyre's debut being postponed for now only to unveil that the dragon is essential in the Dance of the Dragons, especially the battle at Rook's Rest and later on at a horrific, climax moment in the civil war.
Viewers will have to settle with the tall stories of Sunfyre until season 2 opens. Although portraying the dragon as a youngling with Aegon II in season 1 would have been fantastic, keeping the dragon's reveal back until he participates in the conflict could work out better. Whichever the reason Sunfyre is hidden in House of the Dragon, the moment the grandiose dragon shows on-screen should be fulfilling.
