Dark Matter's creator, Blake Crouch, has discussed the ending of episode 7 and the forthcoming consequences from the last scene in next episodes. Dark Matter, which has received critical praise, has had its most thrilling moment thus far when episode 7 reveals two distinct versions of Jason have returned to the same reality. This is clear in the last gun shop scene, which shows two versions of him walking into the store sporting identical attire and carrying the same bag—including a homemade wedding band in place of the one Jason2 pilfers.
Speaking to Screen Rant about Episode 7's twist involving the arrival of another Jason in his native universe, Crouch, who developed Dark Matter and penned the 2016 book on which the program is based, spoke to The author hinted at what viewers should expect from the notion in next episodes and detailed how the idea of several Jasons returning home evolved. Find Crouch's remarks below:
Crouch's comment validates not just the two Jasons who have come out of the same planet looking for a way back but also countless others wishing to be back in their family. The author said that episode 8 will center on this concept; the bar will be especially important in terms of what transpires as the story unfolds. Given how weird it will be to see so many Jasons show in the same universe, the last two episodes of the series seem to be the most intellectually interesting ones.
It remains to be seen how the issue of so many multiple Jasons returning to the same reality in search of reunion with their family will be managed. Given various modifications from the Dark Matter book were done in the program, the justification might not exactly line up with the book. Having happened to gather in the same universe by accident, they might all be looking for their own Jason2s. It is also possible that the original's time in the Box helped generate other versions of herself, all looking for the same home.
Never anything except the gun store. Originally, when I was writing the book and arrived at that location, I assumed it would be only Jason 1 against Jason 2—that was the entire scheme all through. At last I arrived at that moment, when Jason returns home and subsequently it felt rather like a bit anticlimactic. It felt like what was expected, and for maybe a month on the book I kind of strayed from expectations. And I thought, I have no idea what to do here. I wanted different directions, not this one. And I returned to my journal and on the third day of Dark Matter journaling, I had noted, "What if Jason gets back and hundreds of other Jason's have also gotten back?" Then I had literally penned, "No, that's too silly. That is never going to work. I then carried on working on the book. So it felt dumb at that instant. But while I was writing the novel, I was like, hell yeah when I arrived at that point. And that was always what that moment would have been like.
The s*** gets just insane. These were the episodes we most looked forward to film and to see. The notion of realizing the multi-Jason's... premise's... We have two major commitments to fulfill on the show, and to me they are great. One is alternate universes and ensuring they look fantastic in the corridor and on the box and all that. The second aspect, though, is that he deals with the fact that all these other versions of him are also home just when you believe this man is home. I so knew that episode 8 would have the bar scene. But I wanted to even stretch it out more and make it somewhat wilder than it was in the novel. And we got Alex Sakharov, a really excellent filmmaker who started The Witcher; he is a pilot director but came to do the last two episodes of Dark Matter for us. One of the hippest viewing experiences I have ever had is still clearly remembering seeing the Director's Cut of episode eight with all the Jason's. Director's cuts could be excellent [or] not so good. This one was already at rather a great degree. It was like being able to see it without having to go and edit it and perform a lot of tasks. It was already very fantastic. People can be ready for a lot more anarchy in the last two episodes.
Apart from Jason having to deal with the conundrum of having numerous versions of himself, other Dark Matter characters could get caught in the frenzy. Among them is his family; Daniela and Charlie might be learning what happened and working on a solution. Still, everything is possible as numerous incarnations of myself are now living in the same planet and they all aim to do whatever they can to regain their former life.
Based on his book of the same name, Dark Matter, Blake Crouch developed the science fiction drama-thriller Apple TV+ series. Abducted and put into an other realm, a physicist sees a possible road his life may have followed. He discovers, though, that this other version of himself puts his family's life at risk.
