Chicago Med is part of the popular " One Chicago " franchise on NBC which is known to explore personal challenges of medical professionals, along with complex medical issues while highlighting their impact on patient care. As this show continues into it’s next seasons a lot has changed to showcase a variety of approaches to storylines.
The new episodes of Chicago Med along with " Chicago Fire " and " Chicago P.D. ” have returned after a break in mid season and airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c. Episodes can be found for streaming the next day on the Peacock app along with other media outlets such as the NBC app.
Recent episodes of the One Chicago line up were preempted due to the then outgoing President Joe Biden's farewell speech in the time slot. It was determined rather than delaying the times that each show should air that old episodes of the program be rerun with a complete return of the shows next week.
The show returned by focusing on storylines which had cliffhangers at the end of their previous airing. Those storylines include the attack on Sharon Goodwin and if she would survive that ordeal, also the emotional roller coaster for Asher. Each one showcases human dynamic while balancing issues and the care that was given at their respective positions in the show.
In previous episodes focus has been placed on various specific characters for their internal struggles in the recent shows such as Goodwin, Asher and most notably Cook and those episodes focused solely on their perspectives showing each of them are more dimensional than they may seem.
There are ongoing storylines surrounding key medical personnel. Each character navigates emotional distress or major changes within both personal and professional aspects while also showing many relatable viewpoints to those that may encounter those circumstances at home.
Asher’s estranged sister will make her entrance and that has the viewers very curious as this relationship was previously thought to be unable to be repaired. However she arrives asking for Asher’s help in making medical calls. What choice Asher decides to make may impact her character in either a positive or negative way.
It has been confirmed there will be a 3 way crossover between the shows with that beginning on January 29th. This crossover means that those episodes will feature members of all three show series with many lives possibly on the line. It showcases what each unit does with its skill set.
The cross over is titled "In The Trenches" which will demonstrate the characters dealing with a dangerous gas explosion and saving those impacted from this. There are three different parts for each show. That order will be Chicago Fire, then Chicago Med then Chicago P.D. to finish. This was done specifically because the focus might begin with the initial first responders.
The goal of the show continues to be more authentic in demonstrating struggles, triumphs and real life scenarios from an honest view in medical field and personal situations. The show does a wonderful job of bringing to light new issues, complex situations and how that can shift or change a person along the way.
From difficult medical choices, interpersonal tensions to unique circumstances many find themselves drawn into complex circumstances which make viewing interesting and always showing something unpredictable. Each episode strives to make new conversations by pulling into important ethical challenges throughout.
