Netflix announced Bridgerton season 4 officially in development via Instagram featuring cast table read photos for fans before holiday season. The Netflix shared images showed actors involved with Bridgerton which confirmed start of production on next season as anticipated. Several new faces will be added to cast as the storyline moves forward from previous seasons with main lead from season 3 wrapping their stories.
Netflix gifted a first look into Bridgerton Season 4 with images from recent table read containing new romantic leads Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha who also shared photos happily hugging. Ruth Gemmell the actress for Lady Violet Bridgerton posed with her on-screen daughters Hannah Dodd as Francesca Sterling and Florence Hunt as Hyacinth Bridgerton during table read. Jonathan Bailey will return to the cast playing his role of Anthony Bridgerton though the actor was not in attendance for the initial table reading. This season continues following the complex lives of the well-known Bridgerton family members from Julia Quinn novels as they navigate high society's marriage market. Bridgerton Season 4 based on Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer from a Gentleman explores the romance between Benedict Bridgerton played by Luke Thompson and Sophie Baek played by Yerin Ha where he gets infatuated after she appears during masquerade ball and tries to find out her true identity. Thompson discussed with Tudum that the season will highlight the challenges present when juxtaposing old fairy tale romance with realistic and societal challenges of the characters. He said it is a "struggle between proper old school fairy tale and the reality" of the world.
Luke Thompson expressed in his interview that this upcoming season requires a need to balance ideals of true love while also facing real limitations set in the world of Bridgerton in a constant state of duality. The romance of it should show true love that will happen when that specific middle ground is found by main characters of story. Luke Thompson shares his excitement regarding new directions story of Bridgerton is about to head with future filming and episode launches.
Bridgerton season 4 is currently under production after the successes of Bridgerton season 3 that explored the love between Penelope Featherington played by Nicola Coughlan and Colin Bridgerton played by Luke Newton which broke streaming records when released. Both actors from past season were not present for table reads indicating they are no longer the main characters of storylines which gives opportunity for focus on new romances this upcoming season .
