Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds' Running Gag Continued?

Ryan Reynolds corrected his comic book movie mistakes.

Ryan Reynolds grabbed the chance across the last two Deadpool films to savor his past comic book movie mistakes—as well as those of other actors—with relish. Such self-depreciation is especially fulfilling since he has done so by leaning into comic-accurate fourth-wall cracks that escaped his original Deadpool performance. This resulted in Deadpool 2 with Deadpool utilizing Cable's time-travel gadget to travel back and kill Reynolds before embracing his Green Lantern position and the version of "Deadpool" that showed up in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds acknowledged and changed the more contentious aspects of his comic book movie past in achieving this.

Still, this wasn't the first instance in Deadpool's film chronology where Reynolds' past performances were disparaged. Similar events occurred in Deadpool; the antihero told Ajax not to sew his mouth shut and urged his super suit be neither green nor animated. Reynolds's references to his past performances have gone down a storm thus far, but doing so for a third time in Deadpool & Wolverine runs the danger of making the joke seem boring. Blade might, however, give Reynolds an opportunity to profit from another bit.

Blade Appearing Would Carry on Reynolds' Deadpool 2 Joke

Green Lantern and X-Men Origins: Other panned comic book films starring Reynolds are X-Men Origins and Green Lantern. Trinity, starring Wesley Snipes, was the hated third installment of the otherwise well-received Blade series. Reynolds debuted as Hannibal King in the film, whose apparently challenging production was brought on by Snipes' alleged antics on-set. It also drew strong criticism since it missed the enchantment of the first two films.

New Line Cinema first had Blade's distribution rights, then Marvel bought them in 2012. Whether Blade shows up in Deadpool & Wolverine as Snipes or another guise, the door will be wide open for Reynolds to keep his self-deprecating pattern going using Blade as the set-up. A worry regarding citing Blade: Trinity may revolve the fact that it was published in 2004, 7 years before Green Lantern, and hence lacks as much relevancy. By making things less referential and more real in terms of bowing to the preceding release, Blade's physical presence in Deadpool & Wolverine would change that while keeping Reynolds' recurrent comedy running.

Blade Appearing in Deadpool and Wolverine Would Continue Comic Book Movie Trend of Ryan Reynolds

Should rumors of Blade's Marvel movie comeback in Deadpool & Wolverine come true, it would follow a Ryan Reynolds comic book movie trend started in 2016. Beginning with the highly hated portrayal in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds has now portrayed two different Wade Wilson in his comic book movie career. Fortunately, 2016's Deadpool corrected this by giving the classic live-action interpretation of the R-rated Marvel Comics character, which will soon find publication alongside Deadpool & Wolverine.

Enthusiastic about the movie's release, Deadpool fans have been scouring teaser video to find as many Deadpool & Wolverine information as they can ahead of the forthcoming MCU release. One figure that fans are finding difficult to pin down as speculations about some Deadpool and Wolverine comebacks are validated by trailers and images: Blade. Although one character in a promotional image has been hypothesised to be Sticky Fingaz's interpretation of the character in CW's Blade: The Series, it is not known if Blade will feature at all. If he does, though, Reynolds' persistent Deadpool gag can carry on.

Deadpool & Wolverine: Examining the Next MCU Film

Following the immensely popular Deadpool and Deadpool 2 starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. After Disney bought 20th Century Fox, the third movie in the franchise will be the first one made under Marvel Studios brand. Along with Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds is revisiting his Wolverine character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.

Fans of Deadpool & Wolverine are keen to see these two legendary characters on film at last. Combining action, humor, and fourth-wall breaking, the movie seems to be a crazy journey. Blade's possible inclusion would give the movie still another level of thrills and allow Ryan Reynolds to honor his past Comic Book Movie roles and carry on his trademark self-deprecating wit.

Deadpool and Wolverine's Prospect in the MCU

For the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine marks a major turning point since it brings two adored X-Men character into the fold. The popularity of the movie might open doors for upcoming projects including stand-alone adventures as well as future partnerships between these characters and other MCU heroes.

The introduction of Deadpool and Wolverine combined with the prospect of Blade into the mix gives up a whole new world of narrative possibilities as the MCU stretches its universe. For these MCU characters, the future is full of possibility for action, humor, and gripping stories. The appearance of these legendary characters on the big screen and the thrilling adventures ahead much awaited by fans.
