Ahsoka grew to be a vital component of Anakin's legacy.
Ahsoka is unquestionably a key part of Anakin Skywalker's *Star Wars* story, and she has maybe become even more significant since *The Clone Wars*. Though Ahsoka missed the prequel trilogy, *The Clone Wars* did a great job of justifying her absence and exposing how much Anakin actually benefited from her absence. Ahsoka regularly told her he couldn't let her die and wouldn't let anything happen to her, so she reflected yet another destructive bond Anakin had.
This not only reveals yet once more that Anakin was not following the Jedi method, but it also shows the same dread of loss Anakin displayed with numerous relationships, most famously his romantic relationship with Padmé. Though they are not meant to develop an emotional attachment of that kind, Jedi Masters and their Padawans do form close relationships. Furthermore, Anakin's view of the Jedi changed greatly after Ahsoka's leaving from the Order.
George Lucas's Influence and the Origin Story of Ahsoka Revealed by Dave Filoni's Lucasfilm
Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni of Lucasfilm recently discussed how he and George Lucas developed Ahsoka Tano in *Star Wars: The Clone Wars*. Though it's one of *Star Wars*' best TV shows and introduced a number of brand-new fan-favorite characters, Ahsoka is among the most beloved characters in *Star Wars* movies and TV shows, thus it's all the more interesting that she—and *The Clone Wars*—almost looked quite different. Though many viewers first rejected her, Ahsoka has now become one of the most cherished characters in *Star Wars* films and TV episodes.
In a recent interview with 3rd & Fairfax: The WGAW Podcast, Dave Filoni offered fresh ideas on the development of Ahsoka Tano and what writer Henry Gilroy, George Lucas, and Dave Filoni discussed in connection to *The Clone Wars* plans. Filoni said: "We didn't presuppose that; Henry and I initially came in with a proposal that didn't contain Anakin and Obi-Wan, since we didn't want to touch these characters. George, however, was like, "No, kids know these characters; they want this. It will be about them, but we will create Anakin's apprentice using your persona. And that's how Ahsoka arrived... Originally, George wanted a Jedi Padawan, but he wanted it to be a Twi'lek. Then, I said, "Well, let's do Togruta," and then you're like... The design somewhat more of that particular alien appeals to me. But then, having all these books around him, he picked up a history book and discovered the name Ahsoka from within.
When She Was First Introduced, Star Wars Fans Mostly Made Fun of Ahsoka Tano
Though it's startling to consider that *The Clone Wars* nearly centered on characters other than Anakin and Obi-Wan, this first idea seems to have produced one of *Star Wars*' most outstanding characters, Ahsoka Tano. Furthermore fascinating is the extent George Lucas shaped Ahsoka's character. Though there were some major changes over time, Ahsoka Tano was mostly hated in *Star Wars* when she first debuted.
Though Ahsoka missed the prequel trilogy, *The Clone Wars* did a great job of justifying her absence and exposing how much Anakin actually benefited from her absence. Ahsoka constantly informed her he couldn't let her die and wouldn't let anything happen to her, therefore she represented yet another dangerous relationship Anakin had.
Anakin's view of the Jedi Order was much changed by Ahsoka's departure from the Order.
Unquestionably, Anakin's view of the Jedi Order changed even if it's hotly contested whether Anakin would have descended into the dark side had Ahsoka not gone (interestingly, Hayden Christensen thinks he might not have). This most definitely helped Anakin to be doubtful and ready to turn on them. Ahsoka was almost put to death after the Jedi Council kicked her from the Order after she was unfairly accused of murder, rendering her dependent on the Republic Senate.
Apart from infuriating Anakin since it jeopardized Ahsoka's personal safety, this scene let Anakin realize how serious the problem of self-preservation was for the Jedi. Actually, this was a realistic view of the shortcomings in the Jedi Order. To save themselves and their connection with the Senate, they had turned aside one of their own.
An Examination of Ahsoka's Trip
Though Ahsoka and Anakin have stayed closely entwined, with the two even meeting once again in *Star Wars Rebels* and *Ahsoka*, it is indisputable that Ahsoka has become a vital part of Anakin's legacy even outside this narrative point. Dave Filoni's observations on Ahsoka's beginnings in *Star Wars: The Clone Wars* are therefore especially fascinating; it is difficult to currently conceive *Star Wars* without Ahsoka Tano.
Between Episodes 2 and 3 of the *Star Wars* film trilogy, the animated series *Star Wars: The Clone Wars* unfolds. The fan-loved series broadens the prequel trilogy's narrative via characters including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, and many more favorite Jedi.
