How Did "Twisters" Do At The Box Office?
This storm chaser movie "Twisters," has blown through the Box Office! We know it has done pretty well, because it crossed the $300 million mark! But the crazy thing is it still has to catch up with the original movie from 1996!
Is "Twisters" Making History?
- The "Twister" sequel did awesome. You’ve got Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones on board! They definitely got people out to see it! The opening weekend was huge with more than $81 million in the Global Box Office - pretty insane!
- It was one of the Top 10 movies of 2024 - talk about a great start!
- But the biggest accomplishment was crossing the $300 Million milestone - it has to catch up with some seriously big blockbusters.
- That was really amazing for the movie - considering how fast it did, with this movie already being in theaters for four weeks.
Did Twisters Beat The Original?
Hold up! Even though "Twisters" has had great success at the box office - it didn't make enough money to pass the original!
- The first "Twister" movie with Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton made history! The total for that movie ended up at almost half a billion dollars - a crazy amount! That one even got close to a global box office milestone.
- And that's a tough one to beat, but it seems that "Twisters" is unlikely to catch up, even though they did bring in a star, like Glen Powell, who was a huge hit in "Top Gun: Maverick".
- The first "Twister" still had a serious lead!
- We gotta be honest, with the movie now on its fourth week in theaters, and another movie like Deadpool and Wolverine just came out - "Twisters" is kinda losing the competition.
So Was Twisters a Disaster?
- No way! It still made more than triple the budget they spent on making it. If it's in theaters for a few more weeks, we'll be talking about a Box Office Success. And we can't forget, it was so good that Steven Spielberg is behind it, along with the producer, Frank Marshal!
- Those directors did an awesome job - especially for a disaster movie!
So we can still be really excited about this Twister sequel! Maybe it won't win that box office competition with the original but that’s okay - we are still going to see the story unfold in theatres!
Don't forget: "Twisters" might be in those theaters, but "Deadpool and Wolverine" took a lot of the limelight. But that's all part of the fun, and who knows maybe there will be even more movies like this in the future. It's good to watch those disaster movies every now and then.
