Perfectly capturing the power of the dark side, a gorgeous Star Wars-inspired original Sith cosplay New villains have always room here.
This original Star Wars-inspired Sith cosplay brings once more the power of the dark side. Late on in the franchise, the Sith have had a comeback. Not only did Palpatine resurfaced in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but more modern projects like Star Wars: The Acolyte have made it a point to highlight the sinister side of the Force and those who wield it, introducing viewers to new characters like The Stranger, a.k.a. Qimir, and even bringing legendary characters like Darth Plagueis live-action for the first time.
Those that use the dark side are definitely interesting, and cosplayer Lauren (@jokers_jester_) does a great job illustrating why. Inspired by the Nightsisters of Dathomir, this cosplay of what looks to be an original Sith character photographed by Ger McGuinness (@ger_mcguinness_photography) highlights the intensity of the Sith – the brilliant red lightsaber, the arrogance accompanying the dark side, and the glowing scarlet eyes, intimidating glare.
Complementing the look are fiery red hair and facial tattoos. Clearly, Star Wars has a demand for more Sith characters – maybe more female Sith characters, especially – and the series has never been in a better position to introduce such characters.
Some of the most potent Sith Lords in both canon and Legends sprang from the corruptive dark side of the Force in the Star Wars galaxy. Apart from Anakin Skywalker, the Sith were the enemies; the Jedi were the heroes; and subtle depictions of the Sith were confined to comics and books instead of showing on film. But now that Disney+ is here, those who use the dark side have grown far more complicated.
Not to mention all the dark side characters who aren't real Sith Lords like Kylo Ren, Ventress, and the Inquisitors, Darth Tyranus' story in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, Darth Maul's arc in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, and Qimir's seductive tactics in The Acolyte have changed everything.
Although Palpatine's comeback in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may have turned some off the concept of more Sith-related tales, the dark side and the Sith religion have so much narrative potential. Now that Star Wars is free from the Skywalker saga – as much as it will always be, anyway – the franchise has a chance to delve further into its lore and history, and the Sith should be a top focus especially now that a character as compelling and important as Darth Plagueis has come to play. As this cosplay shows, viewers are yearning more Sith characters in Star Wars.
George Lucas launched the multimedia franchise Star Wars in 1977. Originally just titled Star Wars, Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope soon exploded and spawned several sequelues, prequels, TV shows, video games, comics, and much more. Disney rapidly expanded the universe on Disney+ beginning with The Mandalorian after gaining the rights to the franchise.
