Star Wars: The Untold Story of the Galactic Cold War

There is a war in the Star Wars galaxy. We are not talking about the conflict against the Galactic Empire, but "The Cold War." a truly pivotal period that almost everyone has forgotten. You see this took place as a critical period of conflict!

It looks like the events from Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi created some super complex circumstances that fans may not have even thought about. Following the epic war, it is a truly significant moment! It really did take a while for the Galactic Republic to return to some sort of peace and safety in Star Wars after being defeated by the Empire, with an iconic moment from Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens that helps give context to the galaxy's history!

You see, a few years before the first events that start up in "The Force Awakens". These characters really had the universe in mind. That includes a huge, compelling conflict known as "The Cold War!" and this era is as significant as those you might be already aware of.

How the First Order Began

A great moment for those who love the "Star Wars universe came after the Empire collapsed. Those in the New Republic began to bring a new government together with an intention to bring change.

Chancellor Mon Mothma, was part of the effort that sought to bring in a galaxy wide approach.
The key element was the plan to demilitarize after The Clone Wars.
What seemed great for so many in the universe was to make sure the "Galactic Republic" never ended up like the Empire. Those in the "Galactic Republic" wanted the focus to be on specific security efforts at every level and prevent it from growing to an extreme size!

The effort for "The New Republic" was one that took time and effort! They struggled a great deal as they worked to stabilize, as a new form of government was to become part of the galactic world.

It seems though that the plan for the New Republic didn't completely work out! Even after that amazing battle at Jakku!

And just after those epic events took place as the galaxy was trying to come together! It's hard to grasp just how hard it really was. They even signed the Galactic Concordance which sought to bring everyone together under a new umbrella.

The people in "The New Republic" wanted a sense of stability! That meant less power to the army and military and much more power in the Senate.
That was only a problem for many. As some really believed it was the wrong choice, giving up the military would put their future in jeopardy.

There were powerful figures as well! Those who preferred having an army and that group were considered "Centrists!" That may sound very harmless, right? But their views, to many, were seen as the reason why they'd return to the old days, those pre-Empire years when those powers had too much sway in the universe!

All the stars of Star Wars and all the major events from that period helped shape "The Cold War!"

First Order Secession and the Cold War's Rise

As time went on. The people who were in power started taking action to move against the New Republic! The New Republic and those that were seeking to protect it, tried to give peace a chance and give it time, even after all of the suffering from the "Galactic Empire! The problem, of course is the Empire's existence did not completely vanish!

That's right. The Empire in some way persisted even if they weren't visible all the time!

In many of these areas in the galaxy, the power of the Empire, it's ideals, were still in the air! One of those places where they found some of their strengths. It was out of reach of those in the New Republic.

Even worse, as the Empire was gaining its footing. A "centrist" faction that wasn't satisfied with how "The New Republic was working, left their former government behind. This helped lead to the rise of a new political movement with one big objective to regain the power they had! With "The First Order" taking shape!

A Look Back at Important Events

That powerful struggle over the course of just 5 years to 6 years, the universe's major characters all found themselves having to confront this change! This was especially true for those with the most sway.

Leia Organa who found the New Republic struggling! There were attempts to bring about justice.
They sought to dismantle some of the First Order's powerful weapons and resources, though it appears, this didn't do much!
They felt it was in the galaxy's best interests to find answers. That led to some real tension between the galaxy, particularly between the "New Republic" and the "First Order."
This is why "The First Order" emerged as such a serious threat and why those seeking peace found the "Cold War" to be something they were worried about!

Ben Solo and Kylo Ren

What was so challenging about this event, the history behind "The Cold War". It really did get even more dangerous for these characters!

Leia Organa wasn't the only person that was trying to protect this galaxy.

There was Luke Skywalker, who made a significant effort to pass along the teachings of the Jedi Order. But Luke Skywalker faced some serious issues. Those are some events in this era!

It started with a difficult task: helping to raise his nephew Ben Solo. But his struggles were much worse!
It's tough enough for families, especially for a family, who lost a loved one.

Even after they had gone through such powerful events, it appears, that tragedy would come knocking again. Ben Solo had to find a new meaning, but with the knowledge that his grandfather was Darth Vader it threw him into darkness and brought up emotions, causing a significant setback for his journey.

Ben found himself taking on the role of "Kylo Ren!". That was the real tragic event, but before this there was even more struggle.

At the time of this event Luke Skywalker decided to look inside Ben Solo's mind! In a heart wrenching moment, Luke was left reeling, as he was stunned by how far Ben Solo had fallen. "Luke Skywalker' tried his best to protect him, and prevent Ben Solo from falling to the dark side, as well, the tragedy, he ignited his lightsaber and accidentally ended up causing some catastrophic harm!

That is what helped propel Ben Solo towards becoming the great "Kylo Ren" of the series! The event on Ossus.

Ben Solo was influenced even more as he made his way into the First Order, leading to this huge loss. This made a terrible situation. It’s something that audiences never want to see. What really stands out though is that Ben’s actions helped create the incredible "Knights of Ren." You can really see how far he fell. They gave him a dark purpose to follow, but unfortunately, it cost Ben Solo and the Jedi Order dearly.

While everyone is dealing with a difficult war. Poe Dameron is working hard to find a way to restore peace in this war, and while he has a deep connection with "The New Republic" and "The First Order, the world was facing a challenging problem that would bring "The Resistance", into this mix! It really was a difficult time! You see, there were big changes coming for "The Resistance as well.

A key part to this history is understanding how this great battle takes place. It seems that "The Cold War" was so different from what fans got used to.

This wasn't a large-scale, traditional war between these factions.
It's something that slowly began to spread throughout the galaxy!
That includes some stealth missions with the "First Order constantly making a powerful force.
The New Republic and even its own senators.

You might think they're looking the other way. As the series really brings in a ton of twists. The truth is that those who are in power can be blind to the danger. The fact is they didn't want to make "The First Order" any angrier. It looks like that tactic worked pretty well and allowed them to amass quite a force to give a truly terrifying show in "The Force Awakens".

While all of this is unfolding, those in "The New Republic and those who served in its navy, didn't necessarily buy the narrative of the First Order's strength. This was a real moment where the tension rose.

A big struggle came when The First Order. Illegal acts.
A group led by "Poe Dameron," stood their ground. He was trying to find out what had happened, they were ready to risk it all. The event is so shocking.

Those who serve in "The Resistance." Those who want a chance to win. They relied on people like "Poe Dameron". What was an intense act by "The First Order" to create terror was so shocking! The series also makes it clear how "The First Order" took those events and tried to blame "The New Republic for not being proactive!

It's the most amazing moment of an ongoing war. One that brought about some of the most challenging events! That really left those in "The New Republic" struggling to put back together what had already been broken! With the power of the "First Order." in the background.

To make matters worse, a terrible loss. That happened after "The New Republic's senate and a large number of "New Republic forces were completely destroyed at "Starkiller Base!"

The power of "The First Order" in their conquest of a new era in "Star Wars really had its time to shine!

What makes this so interesting? We don't hear that much about this era in Star Wars! If anything this forgotten time is a reminder that in history, and this fictional universe. Some really dramatic moments, can fall into oblivion. It may be one that fans want to go back and explore! "Star Wars", a galaxy of wonder and awe, is ready to share stories of heroism. It's time for new, thrilling stories that give us more glimpses into some of these eras, that just might shake things up and inspire more fans of Star Wars all over!
