Smallville's Lex Luthor Almost Had a HUGE MCU Role! (It Wasn't What You Think)

How Michael Rosenbaum of Smallville Could Still be a Major MCU Actor

Working on Smallville, Rosenbaum's creations rank among the best live-action villains in comic book adaptations alongside stars Willem Dafoe from Green Goblin and Joker actor Heath Ledger. From the comics, his Lex Luthor was a sad character who finally turned into his wicked persona and made Tom Welling's Clark Kent's life hell. Rosenbaum may carry on that amazing villain work with another character of that kind. Martinex is free to be replaced in the MCU since he was a CGI cameo part.

The Mcu's Multiverse Saga has villain concepts floating around right now following the death of Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors. Marvel Studios would make sense in introducing Doctor Doom at last when The Fantastic Four arrive next year and Avengers: Secret Wars is just around the corner. For Rosenbaum, who at 51 would be close in age to actor Pedro Pascal, 49 years old, the part would be ideal. Rosenbaum might give Doom a subdued intensity, therefore transforming the character into the complex and terrifying evil he must be.

Smallville is Lex Luthor Actor Says He Originally Had a Much Greater Part in His MCU Debut

Smallville Originally, Michael Rosenbaum, the actor portraying Lex Luthor, had more of a part to contribute to Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. Over seven seasons of Smallville, Rosenbaum has become well-known for portraying the legendary Superman nemesis Lex Luthor, with his interpretation of the character being maybe the greatest yet in live-action. Though his Ravager character, Martinex, mainly plays minor roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that was not always the intended outcome.

Michael Rosenbaum told ComicBook.com that his character Martinex would have more usage of his abilities and more in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. The actor claimed that "the role was supposed to be a lot bigger," but it was finally reduced since the movie already included too many moving elements. Rosenbaum appeared in several Guardians of the Galaxy films, but his performance was never as prominent as that of the Smallville star was expected for. View the entire quotation below:

The Smallville Star might alternatively play a major superhero in the MCU and leave villain roles behind.

Rosenbaum would be a great Charles Xavier with a fresh update on the MCU's X-Men movie reboot since the actor seen in Smallville shown he would master the character's manner and powerful dialogues to inspire and guide the X-Men. Although Michael Rosenbaum's Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 part was chopped down, there is still hope for a larger part as a new MCU character for the Smallville actor.

Set to the auditory backdrop of Awesome Mix 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 carries on Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Baby Groot's travels across the universe. As they solve the riddle of Peter Quill's actual origins, the Guardians must strive to keep their newly discovered family together. Old enemies become new friends as fan favorite characters from the vintage comics make appearances.

"After all, the position was meant to be far more prominent. They cut a great deal out. Well, you were meant to see, the script clearly indicated Martinex's powers—which were very amazing. But they ended up cutting it out at the last since the script had so much they had to say. And there was some more.
