Kaia Gerber, a well known model has become popular among many for her unique sense of style as well as family connections in entertainment and high fashion. Recently there has been news about a split between her and a former partner.
Kaia and Austin Butler have split, ending their three year relationship. Reports say that they mutually decided to separate at the end of 2024. The two have always attempted to maintain privacy. This new update showcases how even with a low profile, public figures are at the forefront of constant media interest.
The couple has not shared any further comments and details surrounding their separation have yet to be given to the public. This separation ended quietly in spite of a history that had them very involved with each other, at least visually.
The duo were romantically involved in December of 2021. In May 2022 they made their first red carpet appearance together at a W Magazine's annual Best Performances Party, which showcased that the two are now a recognized duo by the media. They attended many other events to showcase public affection with support of all respective career moments.
Their connection was publicly established with events showing an array of different locations such as yoga classes and various high end events where the duo was seen interacting as a public couple for their viewership.
They made many red carpet appearances including events at the Met Gala, Cannes Film Festival and multiple other events. Gerber publicly gave support when Butler’s received honors during the Golden Globe awards as well by appearing at his parties following the ceremony. Even some day to day activities were captured with media such as at dinners.
Both Kaia and Austin have maintained a private life from the media's view. They've opted to keep away from too many questions with the reasoning to maintain a level of personal care. Their private methods created more public interest with their decisions. Kaia openly shared how valuable her private life was to her during this period.
Butler also noted in interviews that he did not share what was happening with his relationships as that was personal information that he wished to not make public. That was one way for him to handle the relationship dynamics in the forefront. Gerber gave her reasons for why she tried to limit certain information which was that parts of life need to be sacred.
Even though the pair made attempts at keeping things from the public domain the lack of appearances in recent times fueled speculation and eventual acknowledgement from multiple media sources. They were last seen publicly at a Gracie Abrams concert in 2024 and rumors were building even before then.
One factor of speculation was his absence from Gerber's New Year’s trip to Mexico with family. This was the catalyst that started major changes as she went without her boyfriend that had historically been there.
Kaia’s visibility remains consistent with fashion events and public functions while she was not at these events with Austin. At many different settings in late 2024 she appeared alone such as a gala in Los Angeles, a party by the Hollywood Reporter and at events during that time.
Before this romance Kaia had also had many public relationships, mostly recently being with actor Jacob Elordi prior to dating Austin. Her approach to being in the public eye through the lens of multiple high profile connections also highlights her continued presence within the entertainment world.
An interesting development with this news was that a prior film featuring Tom Holland and Chris Hemsworth a popular actor as well was the number one film on Netflix. They did the film in 2015 before many knew them as members of the MCU. "In the Heart of the Sea," tells the story of how the ship the Essex was destroyed and their fight for survival. The movie highlights both action, struggle and a deep need for human survival and their story to keep going.
With both Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland appearing in that film, some noticed an additional element that highlights some of Gerber's relationships within public view as she is often surrounded by very familiar personalities through her romantic relationships and by the family she is surrounded by.
